What A New Vacuum Can Do
Like I said yesterday, Dan and I will be married 12 years this week. Well, our vacuum, is just as old. I knew it’s life was nearing the end, even when we lived in Minnesota, due to the fact that I had to clean out the filter all too often. I would spray it all off, take the whole vacuum apart, get a good vacuum in, and well, that was about it. I hate spending money on something new, if the old one is fixable. Well, I had to finally give up and buy a new vacuum.
When we were hanging out with some friends, I asked her about their vacuum and she told me about the Shark brand. I know NOTHING about vacuums, let me assure you. So as she talked to me about it, the price point, and what it could do, it peaked my interest. The more research I did, the more I realized that Shark is a good brand (along with many others), and so I sat on the idea for a few weeks. Well, clearly those few weeks were a bit overdue because soon our vacuum wasn’t sucking up anything. In fact, I saw a beetle in our house and I didn’t want to try and catch it, so I tried to vacuum it up – it wouldn’t go through the hose. Oye.
Well, I found a good deal on the Shark Navigator Life-Away Deluxe Upright on Amazon.
I liked all the little attachments (which a lot of vacuums have anyways), but also that you can detach it to do the stairs. It also has a long and skinny wand to get underneath the oven and refrigerator. Not to mention, it also swivels for easy turning. It is relatively quiet (which is great for Mazy, since she is a little sensitive to loud noises), much lighter than our last vacumm, and let me tell you, this is something that you want to suck!! And this one does!
Let me just give you a bit of a glimpse. I would like to think that I am a relatively clean person, but after vacuuming with our new Shark vacuum, I am a bit embarrassed to show what I picked up just doing a quick vacuum through our main floor. I apologize to anyone who has been in our house, has sat on our floors recently – they were a BIT dirty, even though I vacuumed prior to you coming. With our old vacuum, I still had to clean out the dust cup, but little did I know it was leaving so much behind!
New vs. old:
This picture doesn’t do it justice. Granted I hadn’t vacuumed in a week since our other one didn’t really work, but the inside of our new one was just CAKED with dirt and dust. I didn’t realize that we didn’t get lines in our carpet when I vacuumed (since at our last house, we didn’t have any carpet), but when I vacuumed with our new one, I realized WOW, first of all, it’s not a workout to use it, and it actually WORKS!
This is NOT a sponsored post, but simply a humble realization that the $150 we spend on a new vacuum was well worth it and beyond. Who knew vacuuming could be so fun and so rewarding? WOW. Definitely won’t hear me complain (at least yet) about having to take the vacuum out to clean up a mess! Thanks to a new vacuum.
