When God Calls A Time Out
Life is going well. Things seem to be breezing along, when all of a sudden, God calls a time out. You stop, look back, look up, whatever, and wonder WHAT?
Life is not going well. Things seem to be spinning out of control, when all of a sudden, God calls a time out. You stop, look back, look up, whatever, and wonder are you THERE?
I’m sure you can place yourself in both situations.
I feel like I’ve had a handful of “time outs” called – those times when God is wanting to grab my attention. Regroup and keep moving forward.
As I was reading through Proverbs, I came across this verse: “There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.” (Proverbs 21:30)
Nothing happens without God knowing it. Nothing surprises Him. Nothing makes Him say, “WHAT?” There is nothing that you will do, that will make Him love you more or love you less. When God calls those time outs, it’s not like HE is stopping.
It’s us.
I think so often we can get wrapped up in our own worlds and then when something unexpected happens, we stop dead in our tracks, and wonder what in the world? Guilty as charged. Been there. There now. Right smack dab in the middle of a timeout.
I knew some of this was coming – just one surgery. But being setback for this long, this is a much longer timeout than I expected. But God clearly needed to pull out the drawing board and make sure I knew the game plan. In fact, He has to keep redrawing and redrawing it for me because I know I keep forgetting what the plan is. It’s so easy to lose sight. Worry, flashbacks, pain, distrust, and frustration often get in the way for me.
But that’s not who God is. God, the perfecter of faith and my life, says it’s going to be okay. Get back out there, Kristin, you’ve got this! Trust your Father. Trust the process. Trust the game plan. Trust ME.
That verse from proverbs sure is comforting. Nothing can thwart the plans of God. God’s got this and so do you!
