The first week of April, Dan and I decided to escape the cold winter here in Minnesota, and acclimate ourselves to some warmer weather. We have always wanted to go to the Florida keys, a place we knew we would love. Many have recommended it to us, as Islamorada is the sports fishing capital of the world. It’s not like we are into fishing at all, right? We couldn’t have asked for a better week! It took us a few days to get familiar with the keys, but once we did, we were hooked. Here’s why… (this is a few-day series as I have so many pictures!)
We left on Thursday, April 3 and spent the night in Fort Lauderdale. On Friday we drove down to Miami Beach, via A1A, the road that hugs the Atlantic Ocean.
It was a gorgeous day! Even though it took us forever (it seemed) to get down to the Keys, it was a great way to see Miami – driving through downtown.
Meanwhile, now in the keys, we decided to buy some cheapo beach chairs for the week. We wanted them to recline a bit, so I found rocks and Dan found boards to “recline” our chairs a bit
We spent a lot of time sitting on the beach, relaxing, and reading
And when we got hot, we just jumped in the ocean!
This is the view we woke up to every morning! We were on the 3rd story and the view couldn’t have been more spectacular! Add in the ocean breeze, and we were hooked!
The Seagulls Condos
Snapped a pic while eating breakfast
A view from the otherside…there was actually a high school right there – we thought it would be an distraction, but actual it was awesome!
Relaxing at the pool…
Our last day there…
On Islamorada, there was a Bass Pro Shops. We ended up going there at least 4 times! We LOVED it there! There also was an old wooden boat there that we would love to ride in someday! Dan is sitting here dreaming on how we could make this happen 🙂
Though it was a little tight…
Love this picture!
The weather was in the high-70s to mid-80s the whole week! One spurt of rain for about 2 minutes (you know, typical tropical weather), and it was rather breezy by the end, but it felt good. It was perfect!
Stay tuned for a few more pictures…
