This past week has been a fantastic week at rehab! The week before I didn’t make much gain, if not went back a few steps, but this week I was able to speed up on the treadmill and bike, but also start lifting the 4 lb. weights! Seems like small changes, but realizing that two months ago I had a hard time lifting a soup can above my head, lifting 4 lbs. is an incredible gain for me.
I find myself stepping back in time often, as a form of reflection, recognizing how long the journey has been, how far I have to go, but how blessed we have been. Watching the Olympics has been inspiring, in the sense that as I see these athletes compete for a medal and victory, I feel everyday I go to rehab, it’s a training for the health for the rest of my life. Obviously different in many ways, but I think we ALL have an Olympics to train for. It’s the Christian “race.” The road God has marked out for us. There will be setbacks, trials, and triumphs, but the journey of faith makes us who we are today.

Mazy loves to help in the kitchen! Helping mommy fill cupcake tins!
We have been working on our upstairs front room, that will eventually be Mazy’s room. We painted it the same color as our living room, since we had an extra gallon. After we removed the wallpaper, we found out it was painted with red and white stripes. We figured this blue will do until Mazy moves (which if you ask her, she thinks she should move up there now…)

We received a larger amount of snow again this week in Michigan! Means it’s time to build Mazy a little hill down our deck steps for sledding!
Mazy already can’t wait to be a mommy…here she is mimicking my sister and her daughter Ava, along with her cousin Addison.
Mazy did a great job mixing the batter for one of her favorites – banana bread!
This week you will find me at cardiac rehab and watching the Olympics! Just can’t get enough of the Olympics, folks! The unity and emotion behind the games is something I think we can all be inspired by! Mazy was watching the luge with me the other day and she told “I do that next year!” I’m glad we have an ambitious little girl.
