Exploring Minnesota – New Ulm

I love bright sunny spring days. The touch of the warm sun on my ever-so-pale Dutch skin, after a bitter cold winter, as the leaves start to break through with new life. There is so much promise and excitement. Really, those days I just stand back and appreciate the goodness soaked within the day. Then…
What is God doing in our life? This past weekend we had the opportunity to go to the Simply Youth Ministry Conference in Indianapolis, IN!(We leave tomorrow at noon). You may be thinking that we were crazy in going to a conference days before we are moving to another state, and yes we were crazy, but we…
For about the past 5 years, I have been using a DIY makeup remover, that still to this day, I absolutely LOVE. It is all-natural, uses all oils (strange, I know, if you want to CLEAN your face), but if using a product for 5 years says anything, I think it’s worth a try! My…
This girl continues to steal our hearts! The other day Dan said “And to think we wondered if we would ever have our own” and now here we sit with the most perfect girl in our arms! Yes, we do have more going on in our life than just Mazy, but really, we are just…
Since I was a kid, I have always found inspiration through quotes. I used to have a “quote” book where I would write down basketball quotes, life quotes, favorite Bible verses, and just words to live by. A book I filled up from beginning to end.So anytime I find an inspiring quote, I can’t help…
There is something about getting out on the water and catchin’ fish. Unfortunately, up until this night, I had not caught a fish (really the story of my life every summer for the past 2ish years). We headed to Elkorn Lake with the Bloms who also enjoy fishing, and had some great catches! I do…

Kristin!! I would totally go to New Ulm this summer with you! I love looking at the historical sites around the area! 🙂 You should head to Montevideo sometime and check out the Pioneer village! But go this summer, when you can walk around! Then the boys and I can go too! They are awesome sites! <3
Wow we just have so much in common! Dan and I both enjoy historical sites. We will definitely have to go both places this summer!
You had fun cleaning? The only time that happens to me is if I have company to talk to and keep the kids out from under my feet! April is right though, Pioneer Village is SO much fun! There are some really cool historical spots down in the Minnesota River valley about 30-45 minutes south of us too … old farmsteads, sites of Indian attacks, and 2 miles west of Pburg is a farm that actually is listed as a historical site because Indians once camped there on their way to the massacres in the river valley.
Ang – that is good to know about the Minnesota River valley too! I never even heard of it :). That is why asking people where to go (people who live here) is so much easier instead of meandering around towns, aimlessly. I LOVE old farmsteads and what not! Thanks for the info and if you have anymore, let me know!
