Exploring Minnesota – New Ulm

I couldn’t wait to share this. Last week I received a wonderful email from a couple. We love them, their family, and their faith. I think it hits home to ANYone who is human. Check it out: February 7, 2013 Our Job Is to Obey by Charles R. Swindoll Let all who take refuge in…
Consider me odd, but I LOVE to paint. In our old home, I painted every single room – not just once, but sometimes twice. Sometimes I didn’t like the shade of tan, so I would repaint. Sometimes the color was too bold. Then I wanted to create a tuscan color montage, so I repainted yet…
Goal: Expand my crafting skills. Last weekend I was inspired to sew. Dan was sick and I had this huge hankerin’ to sew – thankfully my mother in law let me borrow her sewing machine! I have had a bag pattern from my sister for a LONG time, and even had the material to make…
As you can see I’m a little behind in blogging – all due to preparing for a garage sale!! I grew up in a family that had garage sales – one almost every summer it seemed when we were young. When my sister-in-law, Wendy, mentioned that she had a lot of items to donate, I…
Thanksgiving is a season that I never want to let slip by. Taking time to be thankful, during Thanksgiving, is one of the many “holidays” that really, we should be celebrating everyday. Think about someone you know who is simply thankful. Thankful for the rain. Thankful for a good meal. Thankful for the simplest things…
The other night, I had an idea to do a few fall crafts with Mazy in the morning. I pinned the ideas on Pinterest and made sure I had the right items to make them. I couldn’t wait to show her when she woke up, what I had come up with. There was this beautiful…

Kristin!! I would totally go to New Ulm this summer with you! I love looking at the historical sites around the area! 🙂 You should head to Montevideo sometime and check out the Pioneer village! But go this summer, when you can walk around! Then the boys and I can go too! They are awesome sites! <3
Wow we just have so much in common! Dan and I both enjoy historical sites. We will definitely have to go both places this summer!
You had fun cleaning? The only time that happens to me is if I have company to talk to and keep the kids out from under my feet! April is right though, Pioneer Village is SO much fun! There are some really cool historical spots down in the Minnesota River valley about 30-45 minutes south of us too … old farmsteads, sites of Indian attacks, and 2 miles west of Pburg is a farm that actually is listed as a historical site because Indians once camped there on their way to the massacres in the river valley.
Ang – that is good to know about the Minnesota River valley too! I never even heard of it :). That is why asking people where to go (people who live here) is so much easier instead of meandering around towns, aimlessly. I LOVE old farmsteads and what not! Thanks for the info and if you have anymore, let me know!
