August 23 – Wow, God
August 23 – JESUS CALLING
Entrust your loved ones to me;
release them into My protective care.
They are much safer with Me
than in your clinging hands.
If you let a loved one become an idol in your heart,
you endanger that one – as well as yourself.
Remember the extreme measures
I used with Abraham and Isaac.
I took Isaac to the very point of death to
free Abraham from son-worship.
Both Abraham and Isaac suffered terribly
because of the father’s undisciplined emotions.
I detest idolatry, even in the form of parental love.
When you release loved ones to Me,
you are free to cling to My hand.
As you entrust others into My care,
I am free to shower blessings on them.
My presence will go with them wherever they go;
and I will give them rest.
This same Presence stays with you,
as you relax and place your trust in Me.
Watch to see what I will do.
On Thursday, August 23, I had my egg retrieval. Imagine reading that before you head into an egg retrieval, knowing that 4 hours after, docs are going to try and fertilize two eggs. I don’t think it was coincidental, but intentional of God.
Those babies are in HIS care. Two years ago, I was clinging to the hope of having our own. It consumed me. That is why it devastated me. I cannot “worship” these babies. No matter what, they are God’s. As much as we so DESIRE and PRAY to hold them in our physical arms, we know that they will always be in our hearts. We need to just release them to God and that is what we have been trying to do. Releasing them, has been the most freeing act. We feel so at peace.
I love the last line: WATCH AND SEE WHAT I WILL DO.
Dan and I are living in a time of many uncertainties in many different areas in our life. But we get to just put our trust in God, breathe, and watch and see. We can do nothing else.
Let these thoughts free YOU, of whatever you are holding onto, too tightly. What are you worshiping and clinging onto, that it has replaced the peace God gives you and the place He deserves in your heart? This is a lesson we have been learning and learning. God keeps giving us opportunities to learn this lesson, to trust Him more with every area of our life – now it’s up to us to accept His offer.
I just still get those warm fuzzies when I read the devotional above because of the timing of it.
