A Dinner Table Conversation

I love “family” meals.
I love “family” meals.
Call me strange, but I love the idea of moving. Granted this is coming from someone who has this odd love for organizing, purging, and living a simple life. And moving helps feed into all 3 of those passions. Over the past two weeks, I have started to scan our home and take a mental…
Whenever I think of canned food, I think of “lasts forever.” Why I don’t know (probably because canned food really does last a long time), but have you ever thought about reusing the can? Often times we think canned food is so easy to cook and then recycle the packaging. What if we made the…
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I struggle with the start of a new year. So much anticipation, so much pressure to set the “right” goals and really, to even set goals in and of themselves. And then to start off the year somehow… Perfect. Do you ever feel that way? I know I…
Living in the Midwest, one of the things I really appreciate is going from winter to spring. It means a change from snow to blooming flowers. From frigid temps to windows open. A feeling of new beginnings. Not only are there new beginnings with each season, it also offers the time to reflect on our…
I am someone who is just a tad obsessed with Christmas. So much so, that I start playing Christmas music MONTHS in advance, not because I want to overlook the other holidays in between, but because Christmas music has a way of singing to my soul and helping me remember why I am here. Not…

I have learned that a lamp or table picked up at the thrift store and redone with things I have on hand is far more satisfying than something picked out from a furniture catalog. Also, I wouldn't trade the time we spend together doing these little projects for anything else I can think of. Good for you, sweet Kristin; and thank you for the encouragement.
Mary, you are SO right – it is WAY more satisfying to DIY than buy! One of the biggest my husband and I have tackled is redoing the complete inside of our fishing boat. It was a marriage tester I must say, but when we were finished, it is the thing we are most proud of. I love your perspective Mary and thank you for yet again, sharing your words of wisdom :)!
