A Dinner Table Conversation

I love “family” meals.

I love “family” meals.
One of the best pieces of advice that I was given when my husband and I got married is to take time away. And in our case, with each other. Taking time away has been one of the best decisions we have made for our life and marriage. When you think about simple living, you…
Cardboard tubes. I have always been quick to recycle them, but I have learned to save just a few. Who would’ve known that cardboard tubes could be used for so many things? Extend your vacuum by slipping a cardboard tube onto the wand to clean in hard to reach places if your wand won’t read….
I confess. THIS. This moment in time. This having to “shelter-in-place.” This being “forced” to be at home gig. This clearing of the calendar – a blank slate. This is often what we dream of. And now we are living in it. When I was taking a walk, I realized the monumental moment this really…
Bottles and jugs come in all different shapes and sizes. If you need a certain size bottle, it is almost a guarantee that you can find it somewhere. Whether it be glass or plastic, we are not in shortage of them! Unfortunately, many bottles, though recyclable, are thrown away. I hope these ideas on how to…
Call me strange, but I love the idea of moving. Granted this is coming from someone who has this odd love for organizing, purging, and living a simple life. And moving helps feed into all 3 of those passions. Over the past two weeks, I have started to scan our home and take a mental…

We are content on a school teacher's salary. I have learned that a lamp or table picked up at the thrift store and redone with things I have on hand is far more satisfying than something picked out from a furniture catalog. Also, I wouldn't trade the time we spend together doing these little projects for anything else I can think of. Good for you, sweet Kristin; and thank you for the encouragement.
Mary, you are SO right – it is WAY more satisfying to DIY than buy! One of the biggest my husband and I have tackled is redoing the complete inside of our fishing boat. It was a marriage tester I must say, but when we were finished, it is the thing we are most proud of. I love your perspective Mary and thank you for yet again, sharing your words of wisdom :)!
