A Dinner Table Conversation

I love “family” meals.

What: Drying clothes outside. Why: Hanging clothes out on the line is becoming a lost “art.” There is something to be said about taking clothes off the line and having the fresh air smell trump the smell of a dryer sheet. There are also many benefits to drying your clothes outside: 1. Clothes last longer…
Mason jars. They have become a DIYers new favorite item. Have you seen on Pinterest how many ideas there are to use with mason jars? There are now chandeliers made out of mason jars. If you are looking for a way to decorate with a mason jar, it is out there! Why are they…
Research shows that we make 35,000 choices a day. Choices that lead us towards or away from the goals and visions we have for our lives. These tens of thousands of choices we make also lead us one of two ways – either for our own gain or for Christ’s gain. And I’ll readily admit,…
I love the word “Simplify.” I think there is much peace, calmness, freedom, and rest in this word. Peace, knowing that you are living with what you actually use. Calmness, knowing that you aren’t living with all this clutter. Freedom, knowing you have freedom to live in your own home, instead of being overwhelmed…

We are content on a school teacher's salary. I have learned that a lamp or table picked up at the thrift store and redone with things I have on hand is far more satisfying than something picked out from a furniture catalog. Also, I wouldn't trade the time we spend together doing these little projects for anything else I can think of. Good for you, sweet Kristin; and thank you for the encouragement.
Mary, you are SO right – it is WAY more satisfying to DIY than buy! One of the biggest my husband and I have tackled is redoing the complete inside of our fishing boat. It was a marriage tester I must say, but when we were finished, it is the thing we are most proud of. I love your perspective Mary and thank you for yet again, sharing your words of wisdom :)!
