A Dinner Table Conversation

What picture do you have of yourself in your head? I’m not talking about the one that you see yourself as right now. That’s a whole different story. I’m talking about the one you are striving for? You know, that image that you dream of being someday? What does she look like? What does she…
I sometimes find myself dreaming. Dreaming about our past, our todays, and our tomorrows. Yes, I even dream about our past. I have been busy writing our story into a book and of course in doing so, it brings back all of the memories, the joys, and even the grief. I sometimes dream about what…
Christmas is fast approaching! Are you ready? I sometimes feel when people ask the question whether I am ready or not, I feel I have to have this huge checklist checked off, with nothing but Christmas bliss left. Christmas shouldn’t be about a to-do list, yet that is what we have often made it to…
Once we have more, it’s just never enough, is it? Just think about that for a second. No matter how much we have, no matter how much money we make, it is just never enough, is it? We are always wanting more. And More. And MORE. Think about your life. What have you bought,…
Are you a big shopper? Do you enjoy spending hours in a mall, wandering aimlessly, looking at whatever catches your eye? I was never a big shopper. Just ask my mom! Even as I grew older, I was never one to just spend hours in a mall. Although, I have learned that it’s all about…

We are content on a school teacher's salary. I have learned that a lamp or table picked up at the thrift store and redone with things I have on hand is far more satisfying than something picked out from a furniture catalog. Also, I wouldn't trade the time we spend together doing these little projects for anything else I can think of. Good for you, sweet Kristin; and thank you for the encouragement.
Mary, you are SO right – it is WAY more satisfying to DIY than buy! One of the biggest my husband and I have tackled is redoing the complete inside of our fishing boat. It was a marriage tester I must say, but when we were finished, it is the thing we are most proud of. I love your perspective Mary and thank you for yet again, sharing your words of wisdom :)!
