A Dinner Table Conversation

I love “family” meals.

How much would you pay for convenience? How much DO you pay for convenience? Fast food restaurants. ATMs. In and out grocery stores. Drive-up coffee shops. Our culture is filled with countless convenience options. Just drive town any town street and you will see convenience thrown at you, from all over. I would say the…
Growing up, every Saturday my sisters and I would walk down the road to our cousin’s house, for a “playdate”. I’m sure the constant question of, “Is it 3:15 yet?” got old for my mom. I honestly can’t think of a Saturday when we DIDN’T make the trek. Hours were spent playing in the cottonseed,…
I am starting a new series this week called HOW TO PREVENT CLUTTER! We all need (including myself), so hopefully by the end of the week, you will have a better grasp of what it takes to prevent items from coming into your home. How do you prevent clutter? Do you feel it is a…
So what has been going on in our life? Well, we are still living with Dan’s parents and are really enjoying it. There are possibilities job-wise, but we are just waiting on God’s timing. We are still trying to make sense of everything with his previous job and we don’t know if we ever will…

We are content on a school teacher's salary. I have learned that a lamp or table picked up at the thrift store and redone with things I have on hand is far more satisfying than something picked out from a furniture catalog. Also, I wouldn't trade the time we spend together doing these little projects for anything else I can think of. Good for you, sweet Kristin; and thank you for the encouragement.
Mary, you are SO right – it is WAY more satisfying to DIY than buy! One of the biggest my husband and I have tackled is redoing the complete inside of our fishing boat. It was a marriage tester I must say, but when we were finished, it is the thing we are most proud of. I love your perspective Mary and thank you for yet again, sharing your words of wisdom :)!
