A Dinner Table Conversation

Research shows that we make 35,000 choices a day. Choices that lead us towards or away from the goals and visions we have for our lives. These tens of thousands of choices we make also lead us one of two ways – either for our own gain or for Christ’s gain. And I’ll readily admit,…
Psalm 34:8 – Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! When I think of savoring every blessing, I think of this verse from Psalms. I can’t help but think about what it takes to SAVOR the goodness of the Lord. To SAVOR every blessing. To SAVOR His love. It takes… Slowing Down. Do…
When’s the last time you allowed your mind to see the world from a child’s perspective? To look at life the way they do? To respond in the way they do? We have a 4-year-old in our home and I must admit, living life through her eyes, has been absolutely beautiful. Let’s start with putting…
I have struggled with my closet. It’s not that it isn’t big enough. It’s not that I don’t have enough clothes. It’s not that I don’t like my clothes. The problem is that I have too many, I have plenty that I like, and my closet has clothes in it that I don’t need. I…
I find myself feeling a bit nostalgic at times. I think about the days when my sister and I would play Shannon Miller and Dominique Moceanu in the backyard, pretending to be the next Olympians. I think about the days when I spent my time lining up each and every one of my crayons just…

We are content on a school teacher's salary. I have learned that a lamp or table picked up at the thrift store and redone with things I have on hand is far more satisfying than something picked out from a furniture catalog. Also, I wouldn't trade the time we spend together doing these little projects for anything else I can think of. Good for you, sweet Kristin; and thank you for the encouragement.
Mary, you are SO right – it is WAY more satisfying to DIY than buy! One of the biggest my husband and I have tackled is redoing the complete inside of our fishing boat. It was a marriage tester I must say, but when we were finished, it is the thing we are most proud of. I love your perspective Mary and thank you for yet again, sharing your words of wisdom :)!
