  • The Not So Perfect Home

Don’t you just love the signs of spring? It got a little chilly last night and we had to bring the down comforter back out. I had washed and put it away for the summer because it had gotten quite warm a few weeks ago. It’s a good problem to have! One thing that has been…

  • Homemade Stovetop Potpourri

With all of these snowstorms that we’ve experienced in West Michigan, it has called for some creative activities in the house. I grew up with my mom having dried potpourri on the stove and that inspired me to try something myself. Stovetop potpourri. Though not dried and uses fresh ingredients, I have to say it…

  • Today’s Small Miracles

Oh to try and put today into words… Today Dan and I headed to Ann Arbor for the first of MANY appointments in the oncology department. We decided that we are getting to know the University Hospital QUITE well. My appointments today were located in the children’s hospital, which was a change of scenery for…

  • Don’t Run

Believe it or not, I used to be a runner. Yes, at one point, I was healthy enough to do so. Those days seem long ago, but I ran almost every day. In fact, Dan and I were recently reminiscing about the time I tripped on a lip in the sidewalk and ate it, gouging…

  • Cancer Results Are Back…

Yesterday at my routine Monday, Wednesday, Friday appointment at the cancer clinic, we met with my PA to discuss side effects and test results. 1. I have battled Rheumatoid Arthritis for 23 years and have been on a path to do everything in my power to lessen inflammation. I’ve gone down a lot of paths, some would think extreme…but I am so tired of living in chronic pain. Healthy, organic eating is now our lifestyle. Supplements? Done that. Sauna? Bought a portable one. Naturopath doctors? Been there. DMSO and antibiotic protocol? Doing that now. Fingers crossed that one day this terrible disease will go into remission. I’m so very proud of you for doing what is “better” and look forward to the rest of your story.

    1. I’m sure it is hard for others to understand that frustration you walk with everyday because it isn’t their story. But I think trying all different options is sometimes the best you can do, to try and find something that works for you! I hope that one day you are able to find SOMETHING so that you can feel like you are able to live your life to the fullest! Keep in touch, Regina!

  2. Awesome!! I pray more people will think about what you wrote! It’s a challenge everyday! Married to a farmer (stubborn Dutchman) who lives the foods he was brought up on, & cheap, makes it more of a challenge! Thanks for sharing! Please, do keep doing so! To your health! – Tami Weaver Folkert

    1. That is so hard because we grew up so different, and yet back in the day, our food wasn’t what it is now. When you make ingredient comparisons, it’s quite incredible to see all that has been added since we were kids! So sad to see. But I always tell people, do the best you can and hopefully those small changes make a difference for your future. You are doing an excellent job to even think about desiring to make changes, and that is always the first step! Keep it up, Tami!
