  • Perfect Timing

This week has been a lot of “heart” talk for some reason. More than it has been for awhile, but it’s a good thing. Some ask how we are doing and not everyone knows that we are waiting to hear the results from Mayo Clinic, but it’s interesting to see their responses. I feel like…

  • Getting Off Track

I have a love/hate relationship with Mario Kart’s Rainbow Road. As a kid, I played the N64 version of Rainbow Road at my cousin’s house, which was always my request. We aren’t necessarily up-to-date with video gaming at our house, but a Wii will do, right? It’s old, but it works like a charm! Mario…

  • Juggling

Dan put it well today “we are becoming really good at juggling a lot of things at one time and finding ways to make them work.” What he was referring to was our schedule this weekend b/c it was absolutely crazy til about 2 hours ago. Now we have nothing on the schedule, which feels…

  • Worth The Wait

GOD’S plans are worth the wait. If someone told me that I would give birth, I would have laughed. In fact, I probably would’ve cried because why would anyone tease me with that idea? If someone told me that I would have our first child at 31, I would have laughed. In fact, I probably…

  • Around The Home

I have just a few pics from this past week. We had a little birthday party for Mazy, took some 1 year pictures, and some other fun ones, that I am excited to share with you soon! Until then… Mazy doesn’t ever like to sit “normal” in a chair – feet up on the table….

  • Security In Christ

Every Sunday (or Saturday night), we ask each other, “so where are we going to church tomorrow?” We decided to go to Dan’s parent’s church because that congregation has been so incredibly supportive through all that has been going on. Little did we know that the message by Pastor Anderson, would be so timely. When I…

  1. I thank God for leading me to this article. My husband and I are looking for a place to call our own. And just like your experience, it is either out of the budget or we would be settling. We have been living with my in laws for 8 years already. I am giving birth this year and I think it’s high time to leave and cleave. But due to our resources and dissimilar goals, we have a hard time finding a home. I have been praying about it and I have been asking God for a clear direction. Also, wisdom and discernment for my husband since he is the leader of the family. I want a home where my kids can run freely and where we can host bible study groups. I know God has better plans but my heart is impatient. Your story has truly inspired me to trust Him and just do our part. God will definitely take care of the rest.

    1. Finding the right home can be such a daunting process because you want a place to call HOME, not just a place to live. I think with a growing family, all the more, it gives the feeling of wanting to settle down and maybe even find that life-long home. I think the more that you live life, and desire to become more of “one mind” that often people talk about, your desires start to become similar too. We knew our “requirements” for the type of house we wanted were very similar, which made looking for a home pretty easy because we were on the same page. I would first say, make sure you both go into it with an open mind, but also an agreement to give on certain areas if needed. What are the must-haves? What are the things that you want to DO in your home and how do you want to use your home? I think that helps narrow down the type of home you are looking for. For instance, like you said, wanting to host Bible studies (LOVE that!) I would think then a space for everyone to sit or a dining room that allows a big enough table for everyone to sit around and study together. Our hearts though, do get impatient – mine does too. All. The. Time. I think my timing is always better, but of course God has something more valuable to teach me! In fact, I could not have chosen a better time for that house to come on the market! If it was earlier, we would’ve been closing on our other home, and any later, we would’ve been closing close to the time we move, which wouldn’t have been fun. So I encourage you to just keep looking to Him and HIS timing – it truly is perfect, when we surrender ourselves to Him and His timing. The blessings that come out of it are ten fold – I truly believe that! When we step outside of His will, we may not be as happy or maybe even miss out on a blessing He had all wrapped up for us. Hang in there girl and keep me posted!!! God’s got you and He won’t let go :).
