Just Because We Know It, Doesn’t Mean We Do It

How many of us know more than we could possibly imagine about God? We faithfully read our Bibles, go to church, listen to Christian music, but we miss the point?
That is our Western culture, isn’t it? There is a large number of people who know about Christ, what He did for us, and have done ALL the things to label themselves as “Christian”. But do we really DO what we should be doing and with a completely surrendered heart?
It’s easy to think we are “saved” by what we know and what we even do, but are we fully surrendering EVERY aspect of our lives to Christ? Are we covered in His dust because we are living so close to Him, we can’t help but get covered?
I don’t want to miss it. We can’t keep living with the knowledge and not doing anything about it. If we KNOW that Christ died for us and it’s only through HIM, that we have salvation, and that we are saved, shouldn’t that compel us to surrender EVERY aspect of our lives:
Our time – do we ask God daily how we can serve him best, every hour of the day? Or do we choose some hours for us, by scrolling, shopping mindlessly, creating an earthly idol we serve and devote much of our time to?
Our work – do we do our best for God or just for man? Are we workaholics, working for the next big promotion so that we can live the life we really want? Or are we lazy, not doing our best, thinking that no one sees? But God sees. God hears. God knows.
Our possessions – do we see everything we have as a gift from God? Or as something we’ve earned? We deserve nothing, except death. Do we have so much that we can’t be good stewards over what we DO have? Do we use what God has given us only for ourselves or to expand His Kingdom, spread His love, and encourage others in their faith?
What are we doing with what we know?
Just because we know what we should do, doesn’t mean we do it. Surrender is a choice we need to make EVERY. DAY. It takes sacrifice. Commitment. Hardwork. Constant realigning. I know everyday I fail to completely surrender and so know I’m only preaching to myself! I have so far to go in this because our natural bent is to love ourselves first. But let’s make GOD first. Every time. Every day.
