Labor Day Weekend Festivities
The past few days, we have been blessed with having another visitor out to the great lands of Minnesota! One of my college roommates, Stephanie, from Canada, was able to visit for the weekend! We had so much fun catching up, laughing, playing games, and just enjoying the great outdoors!
On Saturday, we headed out on our fishing boat to Henderson Lake. What a CLEAR lake! It was a little warm, so we jumped in the lake a few times, just to cool off (hence our diaper-lifejackets!) I got sick of swimming after the boat while Dan was trolling along, so he hooked a rope up and I hung on and just layed back and relaxed in the water.

So Dan felt him bite and I could hear his drag just going…
Dan tells me to get the net. At this point, my heart starts to beat a little faster because then I know it’s up to me to get it IN the net, before the bass snaps the line.
Dan got it up to the boat and thankfully I finally got it in the net.
This fish had another hook in his mouth with the fresh bait still on the hook. Poor fish had “swallowed” the bait, but it was still on the hook so the fish couldn’t even enjoy it! Dan was able to get the other hook out as well.
As he was getting his hook out, we knew this one was just massive. We couldn’t believe he caught it! I snapped a bazillion pictures and so did Steph. Of course there are only a few good ones, but at least we got a few!

Hanging out on the boat
On Sunday, Dan preached for the first time EVER! He seriously did SUCH a great job! I am not just saying that because I am his wife – he truly did! It has been something he has been wanting to do for a long time, but wasn’t ever able to. So moving out here, when the council asked him if he would be interested, he knew that was something he had been wanting to do. Though he said right before the service started, he was thinking about literally running down the aisle and out the doors because he was scared silly, but by the time he thought it all through, it was too late and it was time to go up front :). He seemed like a natural up there!
Anyways, Sunday afternoon wasn’t near as nice, but Steph and I headed down to Redwood Falls to walk through Alexander Ramsey Park. Always such a gorgeous walk!
It was so wonderful having her out here for the weekend! Glad to have college friends that we are still able to keep in touch with – even if they are in another part of the world!
