A Day in the Life of a Minnesotan
Dan and I just finished taking a walk tonight in literal freezing rain at 30 degrees. Tomorrow, temps are going to drop into the negatives and by Saturday night, Real Feel temps will be in the -40s.
When Dan and I moved out here last March, it was QUITE cold! We had gotten a few snow storms and we still had snow piles in MAY. Everyone kept telling us that that was not normal. We thought, “okay, next winter will be different.”
This winter: we have had consistent negative temperatures, some snow, and record wind chills. In fact, it is going to be so cold, that the governor of Minnesota shut down schools already for Monday because wind chills will be between -40 and -60.
Folks, I don’t understand. I don’t understand what that even means. I have a hard time even comprehending those temperatures. -26 is predicted as the temperature. We already have had to jump our car once because of it being so cold. It is January. We have roughly 3-4 months more of this. Hard to imagine. And these two Sterks are PUMPED! We are loving it!
Tonight’s walk, really, was a scorcher in the sense that it will be WAY COLDER tomorrow. Granted everything is covered in a sheet of ice at the moment, but what beauty God’s creation is reflecting! Thankful I had my yak-traks on! The weather here in Minnesota continues to wow me. Is this normal? Maybe not – but is it now normal to the Sterks? You bet! This is all we know and this is what our lives will forever be referenced from when it comes to winter – our first year here.
