Adding Beauty To Those Blah Places

Do you ever find a space in your home to be kind of blah? Does it stare you in the face saying “do something with me,” every time you look at it? The thing is, there are just some areas in our homes that act more as a functional space, rather than an aesthetically pleasing space.

I have teamed up with Wayfair this month to talk about those various places. The places in your home that serve more of a utilitarian purpose, but places that can also be made beautiful.

Adding beautiful utility to an area of your home, where you thought all hope was lost, actually IS possible! This is coming from someone who maybe doesn’t have the best eye for home decor, always. By simply adding a rug, it can completely change the look and feeling of an area.

For instance, this accent rug from Home Dynamix ELLE Decor Collection, gives a completely different look in our entryway. It is a simple space in our home that I cannot imagine living without, as it has 3 doorways – to the living room, front porch, and a coat closet. Though, it needed some beauty added to it. Here is what it looked like before:

Again, not a “negative” space, but completely functional. Now, insert this Home Dynamix ELLE Decor Collection decorative accent rug. It not only has a colorful design that adds pizzazz to a more plain area, but it is water repellent (Michigan winters are no joke), is stain resistent, has a non-skid backing, is made for indoor/outdoor use, and can be cleaned just by wiping it down. Not to mention too, you can even put it in the washer! How’s that for easy cleanup? Now if you ask me, THAT is a functional “rug” to add to a functional space. Here’s the transformation:
