Alaska-Bound
One more day and we leave for our mission trip to Alaska with our Roots kids!
It’s hard to believe that it is literally 1 day away, yet at the same time, it seems like we have been preparing for this for so long! I suppose we have been preparing for it for awhile because we only go every 4 years (so that every kid has a chance to go who comes through the youth group program). So really we are preparing for it for 4 years. We are just so excited to have the opportunity to be able to go again! And hopefully, I will be boarding that plane as well this time! Unfortunately though, two of our youth group leaders (a couple) can’t go because of family. It has been so hard to think of them not going (because I know what it’s like to not be able to go), but they are at peace with it. And we are blessed to have Tim and Brenda coming along with us now (along with the other youth group couple as well). We know God has greater and bigger plans for us, even when it doesn’t seem like it. But to see Him working mightily even through this situation, is so encouraging!
It is such a blessing to see our kids so excited! They have had to invest a lot into this trip because it is costly. Yet we often find in life, when you have to put a little more towards something (such as money, work, or a little more faith), it just means that much more to you – like a trip to Alaska. My hope is that for the kids, they will deeply experience, feel, and appreciate God. We know God already has every step marked out – we are just anxious to see what that all means!
There will be a blog site, though I am not sure what it is going to be yet. If I found out before we leave, I will post it one here. Hope everyone had a good 4th and I will be SURE to talk PLENTY about our trip to Alaska when we get back!
