Oh is it good to be a family of 3 again! Dan had a wonderful time in Haiti (will try and share some pictures sometime)! It’s typical for him to get sick after a mission trip and this one wasn’t any different, so he was feeling ill for a few days, but he is feeling much better now. He was thinking it was adjusting to processed foods again in America, but who knows what it was! A friend offered to stay with Mazy so I could go with our friend to pick up the group from the airport. Dan had no idea I was coming with, so I was able to surprise him, which was very fun and oh so good to see him!
Mazy missed her daddy incredibly and we realized it showed in ways we never expected. She still has some very high-anxiety/panic moments with regards to us leaving and she is very worried Dan is going to leave again, but we are doing what we can to do things together as a family. She still is pulling out her hair and yes, she has a faint bald spot on her head now, but we are praying that it will slowly get better. We tried the suggested shirt with the sleeves sewn shut so she can’t pull, but that caused even more panic, so we are just praying her anxiety diminishes. But I must say, that means that girl needs all the more lovin’ which we have no problem giving her! She is on edge, but like a dear friend reminded me, she has not had a normal life since March (when her ear infections started), so her “reality” is not normal. In other words, we need to just create as much of a normal life as we can – hospital stays, pneumonia, and surgery shouldn’t be part of a normal life for a 16 month old. So hopefully now we can create that new normal for her!
It was a bit warm last week, so we spent some time in Mazy’s pool. Then a crop duster was flying over us and oh did Mazy love it! She now knows what a plane is and is always on the lookout for them!

Tuesday night (the day Dan got home), I was going to put Mazy to bed as normal, but she completely came unglued, reaching out for Dan. He thought that she may remember that the last time she saw him, he was gone the next day, and so she didn’t want to leave him. So, this is what the result was – her falling asleep on Dan, who is definitely her hero!

Dan had to take in a dock with a few kids on Saturday, so we tagged along so Mazy could play in the water and needless to say, she was a little worn out. She was out within 2 minutes of leaving!
This girl just cracks us up! She will walk around the house, literally practicing walking, and have a little conversation with herself. She is very expressive and uses her hands too, which makes it all the more hilarious b/c we have no idea what she is saying, but boy she is serious!
We also went to the zoo this week, which I will share pictures of soon!
