This past week was basically birthday week, all week! Words can’t express how much fun we had celebrating this little girl! We tried to keep things simple because that is who we are!
Unfortunately Mazy had a bit of a rough week. She seemed off beginning Monday night when she didn’t want to sleep. We didn’t think much of it since that can be normal for her sometimes. Well, as the week progressed, she became more and more fussy and that is now not normal for her. By Thursday, her birthday, she was pretty off. We still made the day fun, but she wasn’t herself.
Thankfully Friday morning I had her 12 month appointment, so I tried to hold off until then. Come to find out she had a nasty cold (which we could tell), but was very congested, sounded wheezy and also had an ear infection. Definitely not a clear bill of health for her. She is on an antibiotic not only for the ear infection, but also to make sure that the wheezing didn’t turn into anything else in her lungs. Like Dan said “well that makes sense” after the rough few days prior! We just felt so sorry for her! And of course she had to get 4 shots and a hemoglobin test at that appointment too, so that didn’t help either, but by Friday night, she was a different kid! So thankful for modern medicine!!!
She now is our little happy camper again who is now ONE!
Anyways, back to her birthday! We were going to go to a sit down restaurant, but we weren’t sure how she would do b/c we knew she wasn’t 100%, but we still wanted to take her out (call us crazy, I know), because she LOVES to go “buh bye”. We went to Culvers for supper and custard. She is now at the age where we can get food for her too, so did you know you can order just a dinner roll? It’s $.25 in case you are wondering at Culvers. So we ordered that and custard for her. She didn’t want the custard really (though realizing now she was sick…when we got home, she had a fever), but she ate the roll! Plus, she had fun and was her fun self while there, saying hi to everyone!
It was such a fun week and we are realizing how FAST she is learning things lately! What a FUN AGE!
She doesn’t walk yet, but is getting better and better at it!
My crazy girl and me!
She didn’t want pieces of the roll – she wanted to be a big girl because she was one now, and take bites out of it
Snuggle time at night with daddy
Her favorite game now is “where’s Mazy?” PEEK-A-BOO!
Melt my heart! Thank you Auntie Kari for letting us borrow your adorable onesie!
Mazy opening presents from mommy and daddy. We bought her two chunky puzzles and a VTech Smart Shots Sports Center. She knows how to score a slam dunk and score a goal already! My how fast she learns!
That is a face of determination! We’ve learned there is nothing quick about opening gifts with a one year old! I think we were more excited than she was to get that wrapping paper off! She did it little piece by little piece, where we were like “rip that paper!!!!”
Not completely herself that day, but she now can find the basketball, turn around, and slam dunk it, like I said. She still grabs the ball, brings it to us too, so we can play catch.
I know I talk nonstop about our daughter, but we are just so thankful for her. We never even DREAMED of having a daughter! Sunday night we were eating supper as a family and Dan said “sometimes I look at her and think ‘she is ours'”. It really hasn’t hit us yet. Every day is such a gift with her. God had this gift that He couldn’t WAIT for US to unwrap. It was years in the making, but boy was she worth the wait! So. Blessed.
Hi Kristin, my friend!
It's amazing how much little Mazy Grace has grown. I'm glad she had a fantastic 1st birthday. She is blessed to have you as a Mom and Dan as a Dad.
Love,
Sonja
Hi Sonja!
Yes, she has grown so much; especially since Christmas! We had such a good time celebrating her and just feel so blessed to BE her parents! Thank you always for your kindness and sweet words Sonja! Thinking of you.
