Around the Home
What a joyous and wonderful Christmas week we had as a family. We tried to soak in every moment we could because family is just so valuable to us. Also, seeing our sweet girl’s excitement over Christmas, while trying to reign in the excitement over the presents and remind her WHY we have Christmas gifts, was a joy as well. And honor, really, that God would choose us to be her parents. Here’s what our week looked like in pictures! (There are a lot of them!)
Monday we headed to Grandma’s house to decorate Christmas cookies with cousins:
Sunday night, Mazy spent the evening with us at youth group, which she just LOVES doing. She kept plenty busy building towers out of jenga blocks:
I was rather impressed with this creation…
It was a warm Christmas week, which meant there was no chance we were going to have snow! In fact, one day it hit 61 degrees, which blew the record away by 8 degrees. I even opened the windows and the front door because it was also sunny, which is a rarity in West Michigan in the winter! We definitely enjoyed it while it lasted.
A friend recommended a book that encourages crafts with kids and what FUN ideas it has! Thankfully we had most of the supplies, so we decided to try some out. I hope to do another blog post on this soon, but this “project” took liquid watercolors, cotton pads (like to remove makeup), and droppers. Just squeeze out drops of colored water and create the design of your choice!
It was so great to see Mazy’s creativity come out and just let her run with it!
Thank you to my friend in Colorado for hooking us up with liquid watercolors and droppers!
Christmas morning, Mazy woke up at 6:30 which was a bit early for her, but she knew what day it was! The day she could open up the presents from her daddy and mommy. I have to admit, I was probably just as excited!
Opening gifts is hard work!
Her reaction when she saw what was in there: a big ole bag of legos:
And we will be attending Disney on Ice, which is something she has wanted to go to. Excited to experience that with her, considering we’ve never done anything of the sorts before!
Our Christmas card this year:
During the warm weather, I tried to take as many walks as I could. I sure love our town:
And Christmas day, it was so warm we ended up going to a nearby park, and numerous others had the same great idea! It sure was busy – who knew?
Mazy and her friend Lena hanging out…Mazy adores her!
On Christmas Eve, we celebrated Christmas with Dan’s family:
More presents!
Mazy is REALLY into playmobil (she calls it no-mobile, why, we aren’t certain). Mazy really enjoys pretending and her imagination just flies when she plays with playmobil! A classic, but a goodie! And it’s a quality toy that we hope will last a lifetime.
One afternoon we decided to make the trek to yet another park, and as you can see, she thoroughly enjoyed her time there. It was a bit further of a walk than I remembered, but Dan was on-call in case I wouldn’t be able to make it home. But no call had to be made, which felt good to be able to walk that far!
So thankful for a great week and thankful for the nice weather, even though it’s fun to have a white Christmas too. Though we know our turn for snow is coming! I’m sure much like last year, we will get pommeled and we are just fine with that. Can’t be winter without some snow!
