Around the Home
So I feel like I just said “Hello Fall” in a recent post, where this week I could’ve said “Hello Summer, Again!” This week was a surprise gift of warmth with cool nights, and everything summer and fall, mixed into one. All before it goes tumbling downhill in temperature :). Needless to say, we are thankful we hadn’t closed the pool up quite yet and could milk just a few more days out of it.
There is something about sitting by the pool after work, watching Mazy and Maggie just live it up poolside:
I found myself grieving the fact that Mazy is not growing up, learning how to wash dishes, thanks to us having a dishwasher. This is the first house we’ve lived in that has had one, so it is still a “new” item to us as well, but when I saw her washing her kitchen toys in the sink with hand soap, I realized I’ve got to do better. This girl needs to learn how to wash “real” dishes. It’s something we take for granted, and yet it’s a task that I feel all should figure out how to do well. Because even dishwashers aren’t perfect and nor do they always work!
Learning to skateboard with her shinguards and softball helmet on! Safety first for this girl…
You can read about my latest heart appointment here, but it was while at this appointment, it was determined another holter monitor was needed to figure out why/how many extra beats I’ve been having. A bit disappointing to learn that the heart is declining once again, but we also know that this is all part of God’s perfect plan for Kristin.
This silly girl WILL NOT eat vegetables. She said maybe if the carrot was full of ranch she’d eat it…well…you can determine if it was a success or not…
I’ve said it a million times, but God has graciously blessed us with a pool that has been a piece of respite for our little family. We LOVE hosting and having people over (always have), yet there is something about sitting as a family of 3, just being together. My heart failure feels like a lot at times. It has changed our lives and it will forever. Mazy wrestles with it and just begs for mommy’s heart to get better. She has wished to go do things, but mommy hasn’t been able to because of it all. But THIS. This pool, has been a place of calm, peace, a place of belonging, and a place of love for our little family. It literally is just a tool and a giant bowl of water, but God has used this tool and pool to speak love into our family and create a bond between us 3, that is only growing. And her smile says it all. We will close it up today, but do so with gratitude for another year of building relationships with others, our little family, and with God:
We also had a monumental moment happen at our house this week. Mazy lost her first tooth! This has been a topic of conversation too many times to count, at our house. She has been asking constantly when she was going to get a wiggly tooth and when the tooth fairy could come (which indeed, she knows is her mother :)). Well, a minute before we were going to leave for her soccer game, it popped out! Thank goodness because I had visions of searching a soccer field for a tooth because it fell out during the game. And I knew she wouldn’t let us leave until we found it, so we were ecstatic when she plucked it out herself!
Her cheesy smile to show it off:
Standing in mommy’s shadow:
This little trooper woke up Saturday night with another ear infection, so off to Urgent Care we went Sunday morning! We were hoping that the infections would be less this year after getting another set of tubes put in this past January, but hopefully this is a one time deal. After getting some antibiotics and resting, she was ready to head to the park and play. No slowing down this girl:
