Around The Home
This past week has been absolutely crazy, but filled nothing but good things! Last Sunday and Monday we made it public that we were moving, which brought a mix of emotions, but it felt incredibly good to be open and honest about what God was doing in our life! We have also been working on getting all the paperwork set up to sell our home in Michigan, but also working on getting pre-approved for and find another loan, which as many of you know, requires a lot of paperwork! Thankfully we have been able to do it all still being a few states away, which has made it that much easier.
I had the opportunity to speak a local mom group as well, which was a bit out of my comfort zone, but knew God was calling me to share my heart and passions about faith and simplifying. Thanks to many prayers, I did not fall over with nerves, and am humbled to have had the opportunity to speak. Then the local Christian school’s basketball team went to State, which meant a trip to Minneapolis! Mazy and I made it to one game, while Dan went to all 3, to cheer on our youth group kids. Going to activities that our kids are involved in, is such an important part of youth ministry for us because we see the kids in their element. Meeting kids where they are at and in what they enjoy, opens up a whole new relationship and world with them!
Also, we have been working on going through our belongings, wondering what we should keep, what we should just donate, and what we should put on the garage sale. It’s a bit daunting, especially since I feel like we recently went through a lot of our stuff last fall for the garage sale, but clearly I could have done a bit more!
Anyways, here are a few pics of what our week looked like!
Mazy struggled to take a nap one day, but I had no problem helping her sleep!
Watching the Central Minnesota Christian School boy’s basketball team in what’s known as “the barn” in Minneapolis (University of Minnesota). Unfortunately they lost on a buzzer beater that made the #3 highlight on ESPN’s SportCenter the next morning.
Mazy looked SO FORWARD to going to basketball games this year to watch her two favorite players Aaron and Tanner!
Cutest little cheerleader around!
Someone thought she needed to wear her “cool” sunglasses in the house this past week!
Thanks to our AMAZING babysitter, she came up with the idea to do finger painting with Mazy one week while babysitting. I decided to invest in some finger paint and they sure did not disappoint!
At open rock, while we waited for kids to come, Mazy was working on her pool skills
Not sure what prompted her to do this, but she decided to take Dan’s squirrel call (a microphone), in her Sunday best, while standing on a chair cushion, and perform a little song for us. Never a dull moment!
Couldn’t let this moment pass without a picture! Mazy on the harmonica and Dan on the guitar! Honestly, she was staying in rhythm, or Dan just knew how to predict what she was going to play, but regardless, it was beautiful!
This coming week consists of closing on our home in St. Joseph, Michigan, working on getting the paperwork together for a new loan in the future, keeping our eye out for a house, and continually going through our stuff. This past week wasn’t always easy having the “moving” conversation, since those initial conversations are always the hardest. It is good to have this past week behind us, after we made it known that we are moving. Again, we feel so incredibly blessed by everyone’s words of encouragement, phone calls, messages, texts, everything. We never imagined so much support on both ends. We can’t thank you enough!
I agree. Moving is very hard, and from a family who moved around 17 times in 19 yrs. of marriage, I can definitely relate!. I also empathize with you on saying goodbyes. However, God always has a better plan than we could ever hope or imagine, and as there is a season for everything, this ‘season” is passing to make way for what God has in store for all of you.
We never know how God is going to use us until we take that step in faith. That is exactly what you and Dan and Mazy are doing, and I for one, can hardly wait to see how our Lord is going to use your lives by coming back to Michigan for your good and His glory.
I’ll be waiting for the next blog post.
Our daughter, Kara, and her husband, Andy, are going through something similar right now, in that they are sorting, discarding, and saving stuff as they prepare to go to Germany to live for 3 to 5 years. Andy’s new job is there and as you are making decisions, so are they, so please pray for them as they leave June 7th. Thanks so much.
You all are in my prayers daily as you attempt to do the same tasks to get ready to start a new chapter of your lives. I know God has great plans for you!!
Love,
Karen and Joe
Thank you so much for your comment Karen! You are so wise, full of experience, and have such a great faith! You sure know what it’s like to move! Actually, I enjoy it to some extent because I’ve learned that God does beautiful things in new chapters! I can’t wait to share how God has, is, and will be working. There is something so beautiful about being able to share God-stories with others. Thank you for keeping in contact Karen! I will be thinking of Andy and Kara as they make a big move as well. That’s a REALLY big move! I foresee a trip out there for the Killians :). Thank you for sharing your heart and faith with me Karen! Much love to you!
