Around The Home
There sure had been a new found freedom in having all of my restrictions lifted, though I quickly learned that it did not mean I was 100% better! As much I wanted to lift Mazy up and carry her everywhere, I could barely lift her, due to weakness. Slowly I am gaining strength, but I have to constantly remind myself that I am still only less than 2 months out of two major surgeries. There are days when I want to conquer the world, but my body is quick to remind me, not so fast, Kristin! It is a learning curve once again, but I figure if my mind wants to do more, my body will eventually catch up. It may take months yet, but the mind is half the battle!
After my post op appointment last week Wednesday, I took advantage of my freedom to drive the next day and took Mazy to the grocery store to pick up one thing. Yes, it was just one thing, but I wanted to see how it would go. Thankfully this grocery store had the front car that she could ride in so I did not have to lift her too long. And clearly she enjoyed it!
I said goodbye to my visiting nurse program and equipment last Thursday, which was a HUGE step for me. I am so grateful for their service and encouragement. I would not be where I am today if it was not for them. And that equipment? Everyday at 9:00am I would have to record my vitals. Some days I did not want to just because it was one more thing to do, but at the same time, it truly helped me stay on track and get to know my body in ways I never did before! Thanks to that program and these vital-takers, we were quick to learn that something was not right. Every minute mattered. A box that I was not sad to see go, but a box that sure helped me in my recovery journey!
One of Mazy’s favorite activities is coloring. And I must say, she is really good at it!
We have been so blessed by all the wonderful gifts sent to Mazy! Sure helped this mama in recovery too, in helping her find things to do! THANK YOU!
On the way to Grandpa and Grandma’s house for Christmas!
Christmas with the Sterks!
Mazy sure loves to read!
Mazy’s first dollhouse!
After all the festivities, Mazy and I took a nap Sunday afternoon. It was much needed…for the both of us…
We forgot what lake effect snow was! And it hasn’t stopped snowing since!
Love our little town!
The front of our Christmas card this year…
Downtown Zeeland…the picture surely does not do this town justice!
Finished a puzzle last week!
Mazy sleeping over with her cousin…though she ended up in the bed with me!
This picture was taken BEFORE all the snow we have gotten!
Looking forward to more Christmas parties and more family time! I must say, it is nice to be “permanently” home for Christmas this holiday season! Thankful to be back in the mitten, but will always have a heart for our Minnesota family. Much to be thankful for!
