Around The Home
This past week we welcomed snow back to Michigan! Not sure exactly how I feel about it, but I have to say, it is beautiful! Thankfully it held off long enough for me to have an uneventful drive back to the U of M for check up, which you can read more about HERE. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, rehab was my jam. I felt I had some setbacks with having to slow down and not be able to increase my speed, but I have to remember that endurance is the key, not the speed. I’m building heart strength and I do not need to run a marathon to do so. Like they told me, I will have “bad” days at rehab too, just like in the hospital! I didn’t take as many pictures as normal, but here’s a small glimpse at what we did this week!
On Thursday, after my appointment, I met Dan and Mazy at a hotel where our friends were staying for the night. They had invited us to come swim with them, which you can tell by the pictures, Mazy had a blast, and so did we! So thankful they invited and what a good time we had! Mazy’s faces just make me LAUGH! So expressive, ALWAYS!
I made another batch of slime! I don’t use measurements, which I should, but all it is, is school glue, shaving cream, contact solution, and food coloring! I fill the bottom of a bowl with glue, put about 4x the amount of shaving cream in (eyeball it), put a little food coloring in for some pizzazz, then squirt about 1 tablespoon on contact solution on it. Stir. There is a recipe online I believe, which will probably give you some more guidance, but Mazy will play with this multiple times a day! Ours tends to be a bit sticky at times (reason why I should probs follow a recipe), but we just take her shirt off and then it doesn’t matter!
One of Mazy’s favorite games is hide and go seek. Though, she thinks that if she can’t see us, we can’t see her!
Sunday morning Mazy wanted to brush my hair! You can see the excitement on her face when I let her do this! I no longer let her use combs (as of now) because she once wrapped my hair around it and I had a difficult time getting it out! Ya live and learn!
And this week…
THE OLYMPICS START!!!!!
I fully admit I am a diehard and maybe a tad obsessed! It will be on all day, everyday! So, for the next 2 weeks, Kristin will not have a life! I always find the Olympics to be inspirational and all the more this year, as I see them competing, when I go to rehab, I’m sure it’ll make me want to keep pushing and going. It’s hard, but it’s worth it! They are competing for medals, but I personally am just exercising for life. I want to live a healthy life so that I can be the best wife, mom, and daughter of the King I can be!
I hope these next 2 weeks helps us all unite and divide! GO USA!
