Around The Home
Hello April! I always enjoy April because it means warmer temps and time to come out of hibernation. Well, the weather hasn’t necessarily felt like spring, but it’s coming! Mazy keeps asking to go swimming in her pool and she doesn’t quite understand why she can’t go swimming in it yet. Though her toes touching the water I’m sure would help her change her mind!
This past week we enjoyed a fun sleepover with cousins and a trip to Wisconsin to meet up with our friends from Minnesota! First our trip to Wisconsin…it was a LONG wait for Mazy to see her friend “Parkie” as she calls him! The hours before we left were rather trying, due to her just wanting to leave, a lack of sleep for Mazy due to a cold, and mommy trying to get some things done. I know you’ve been there! Thankfully we were meeting my mom, grandma, and aunt at McDonalds for lunch that day, so that helped pass some time! Needless to say, she was a tad tired when we left!
The picture doesn’t do it justice, but it was snowing SO hard! Who would’ve thought on April 6, we’d have blizzard-like conditions?
Our drive to Wisconsin was full of traffic and backups, but oh well! Thankfully we know Chicago well enough and have driven through it often, that no map or directions are needed, which makes for much easier driving in that aspect!
It was so great to catch up with our friends again! Even though it had been 10 months since we’d seen them, we were able to pick up right where we left off. And Mazy had a BLAST with her friend Parkie and their dog, Remy! Such a relaxing and amazing weekend! We even found a little pocket of snow to go sledding on with the kiddos!
Mazy has to hang on pretty tight when Daddy is driving!
Who needs sleds when you can scoot?
Making snow angels!
Oh to get a dog or not to get a dog…when we see this, we realize how much Mazy would just LOVE a dog, but oh the work they are too!
The hour time difference was a little rough on Mazy (even though it’s just 1 hour), so on the way home, she was OUT for a solid 2 hours! Very unlike her to sleep that long in the car! So thankful for a wonderful meeting place and so thankful for the people God introduced us to in Minnesota! Life-long friends1
This past week, we also had my sister’s girls over for a sleepover! Mazy was SO excited for them to come over! It was Mazy’s first official “sleepover,” and the sleeping part could’ve gone better, but oh well! They all started upstairs, but then Mazy was scared so her cousins were generous enough to move downstairs to Mazy’s room. Well, Mazy was still struggling to sleep, but by 10:30, she finally caved!
Reading bedtime stories before calling it a night…
We didn’t have a sleepover with sweet Ava, but Mazy was still able to get some snuggle time in with her!
Sleepovers are all about the fun things in life, right? Making our own pizzas, nails, a movie and popcorn, glitter tattoos, doing hair, and just being goofy! We had SUCH a great time!
It had snowed enough this past week that Mazy and Dan were able to make some snowballs and of course, throw them at Mommy! Mazy came down with a pretty nasty cold (Dan had the same one), so being outside sure was good for her nose and throat!
This little hand on mine, oh that touch, I will never forget! That sweet little hand, with a fading glitter tattoo on it. A moment I will always treasure!
While visiting friends, we also celebrated Christmas!
And of course last Monday night, we were cheering on our Michigan Wolverines! A national championship would’ve been nice of course, but that doesn’t define a team. Just like any other award or promotion. It doesn’t define who we are!
Hope you all have a wonderful!!
