Around The Home
This past week has been one of recovery and as of Friday, I have had all restrictions lifted, pending pain! Of course that makes me want to do everything I couldn’t do in the past, but they were right – pain will let me know when I can’t do something. It’ll be slow, but good. I also had a wound check and was able to get my home-monitoring system for my ICD. It is all done through a cell tower, which just amazes me! I am off the “hard” meds, so I can now drive, which I must say, is very freeing. Again, much to be thankful for! I also made the initial call to get my next procedure set up – the ablations, where a surgeon blasts away all of those extra beats. It’ll be a bit of a process, especially since I have to go off of a med that will not make me feel well for a few weeks, but ready to get the next step going. The date hasn’t been decided, but hopefully we will find out in the next week.
This past weekend, we went to Craig’s Cruisers with the youth group, and Mazy was able to tag along once again! She was looking forward to it for DAYS, and even woke up early, excited for the day – I didn’t think that started this young yet!
Her favorite was by far the go-karts. She went on the roller coaster with me, and even though she didn’t cry, it was clear that it wasn’t her favorite event. I decided to not do the go-karts myself, because just what I need is to have my ICD displace itself when it’s so fresh! Pictures are hard to get clear, but you get the gist:
Mini bowling!
Cutest little bowler!
While I was recovering, Mazy was my little nurse, even setting up a little hospital bed for me, taking my temperature, and getting me food.
Hot chocolate and memory: Yup, she still beats me in this game…
Mazy has been wanting to play sorts (swords) with daddy – she’s got her “sword” and two different shoes – she’s ready, I guess!
The birds are a little foggy after their travels south – there was one bird (or maybe they were different ones), that hit our windows 8 times in one day. One hit so hard it literally left part of it’s body on the window!
Mazy still loves her dogs…so glad we have friends who have dogs!
This week we are looking forward to Mazy’s 4th birthday! She is SO excited and ensures that we know exactly what she wants. Oh to live the excitement of a birthday through a child. I just love celebrating her birthday because when we were unable to have children, that was one thing I really grieved. Seeing our child open gifts. And now to have had that blessing for 4 years, each year it just keeps getting better and better.
I still get teary-eyed thinking about the fact that she is our sweet girl! We already hung a Frozen birthday banner (that we received as a kind gift from a friend), with her name on it. We told her we could make it a birthday month – who cares! She is sure someone worth celebrating!
