Around the Home + Bathroom Floor Re-Do
This week brought on a spontaneous house project! We knew our bathroom floor would eventually have to be replaced, but we are people who like to do projects ourselves, so it just takes us some time to get to some of them. We live in a 100-year-old house, so we knew there might be some damage to the subfloor, but we necessarily weren’t anticipating it to be as bad as it was. Although most projects usually don’t go as planned for the Sterks, so we should’ve known! Needless to say, I’m glad we ended up tackling this project because seeing some of the floor underneath in the condition it was, I’m glad I didn’t go through the floor when I sat down on the toilet! Okay, it wasn’t quite there yet, but give it how many more years and ya never know! So we got ambitious and chose a fairly small tile pattern to replace the peel ‘n stick with, mind you this was our first tiling job we’ve ever done. And a HUGE shout out to my husband who did an absolutely AMAZING job on it! He NAILED it and we LOVE it! We like to keep the 1920s style as much as we can in our home and so after researching tile styles, we felt the one we chose was perfect. See below for more!
Like I said, it needed a bit of work, especially where the toilet was:
Dan was able to make this floor SOLID:

And I plan to do an “after” picture, but we have to put up new tall baseboards yet (that we hope can match the style of the rest of the house) and put the finishing touches on it. There are a few other changes we would like to make too, but we will see if we get the gumption to do them or not.
On Saturday Mazy and I took a hike on some local trails…love hanging out with my buddy! We always have some of the best conversations while walking together:
