Braided Spaghetti Bread
I have seen this recipe on a number of occasions and I decided to give it a whirl. When I made it, I believe my husband and I both said, on different occasions “this is GOOD!” It sounds like an odd concept to put spaghetti into bread, but it is absolutely delicious! Not to mention, it is a fairly easy recipe as well. Sounds complicated, but trust me, I am NOT a pro cook, and I think it was fairly easy. Making the bread a “garlic bread” with the spices, adds so much flavor! The texture of the spaghetti in the bread is so good, and the taste, well, be careful: you may not have any leftovers.
Braided Spaghetti {Print Recipe}
Ingredients:
- 1 loaf Rhodes bread dough, thawed to room temperature
- 6 oz. spaghetti, cooked
- 1 c. thick spaghetti sauce
- 8 oz. mozzarella cheese
- 1 egg white
- Parmesan cheese
- Parsley flakes
- Garlic salt or powder
- Optional: sausage
Directions:
1. Roll dough into 12×16 rectangle on parchment paper.
2. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for 10-15 minutes.
3. Cook spaghetti and mix with sauce.
4. Place spaghetti in 4 inch strip down dough.
5. Top with cheese (and sausage if using).
6. Cut edges in 1 1/2 inch strips and braid.
7. Brush with egg white and sprinkle parmesan, parsley, and garlic salt/powder on top.
8. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
I decided to use my bread maker to make the dough and it worked just fine! I also heated up some extra spaghetti sauce for dipping – so good! This definitely on the “make again” list!
