CANCER NOT DETECTED!
A few weeks ago, I had my blood drawn to test whether my specific type of leukemia was present in my blood.
Anytime that test is drawn, the cancer radar starts spinning, which includes my mind, and I start to think, “But what if it’s back?”
This summer I have been attempting to put the past 7 years of my life into another book and part of that process requires reliving many of the difficult events that have happened during that time period. It has taken much emotional and mental energy to do so, and yet in writing out this story, for His glory, I see God’s fingerprints in every twist and turn.
Part of this writing has required me to relive my relapse, which I sometimes still can’t believe happened. And so anytime I have my blood drawn, it brings me to my knees, knowing that anything can happen, at anytime. Statistics could be in my favor, but they never trump a sovereign God. And this test run was no different.
I had no reason to think that the cancer was back, as my blood cell counts came back literally perfect (which that in and of itself is a miracle after all God has allowed in my body), but the possibility is always there. Plus, I will not be considered “cured” for 2 1/2 more years.
It can feel like a long wait and I am still living like I am fighting cancer, like I did after I came home from my bone marrow transplant. I still try to find healthier substitutes for everything, eat well, and do my best to live a healthy lifestyle.
So yesterday evening, I heard a “ping” on my phone, signaling that I received a medical portal message. It’s the only time that sound is made on my phone. So of course I got the nervous tingles, but then I thought, “Wait, they’d call me if it wasn’t negative, right?
I opened up my portal and this is what I read:

I felt a literal wave of peace flow into and over my body! I don’t always realize how much “weight” I carry with each of those tests, which are now pushed out to 6 months apart, but apparently it was heavy! I’d love to say I am getting better at managing the angst, but maybe not? I don’t know. All I know is that my inversion-16 leukemia WAS NOT DETECTED and GOD continues to bring healing to my body.
For anyone who has gone through cancer, you know this feeling, and really anyone who is just waiting for a conversation to happen, for an event to happen, whatever it is. You know the pressure. But when it’s done and the results are in, WHEW!
And it wasn’t a mistake that 2 minutes later our old neighbs came over for supper and we could celebrate!
I don’t take lightly these results, as I know this isn’t the case for everyone. I just pray I can showcase a God who works in miraculous ways, as it’s been a long past 7 years. And someday, I can’t wait to share that journey with you in the book.
To GOD be the glory, for the great things HE has done!
