Christmas Travels and Festivities: Part 1

Is Christmas past already? Hard to believe we are sitting on the other side of December 25!
Dan and I were able to make it back to Michigan for Christmas!
Friday night, after my basketball game, we drove through the night and made it to my parents at about 9:00am! We were so thankful we left when we did because there was an ice storm approaching, which we beat!
Words can’t express how thankful we were to spend this Christmas with family! Don’t get me wrong – we honestly LOVE Minnesota, but during the holidays, it is so nice to be with our families.

Story behind this one, so I was trying to take a picture of adorable Scarlett, but apparently she didn’t like the little red light on my camera. This was her response every time I tried to take a picture of her!

We realize how blessed we are to be home for Christmas – we know many do not have this privilege.
Oh Emma, just so stinkin’ cute ALL OF THE TIME!
Of course it takes 3 guys to get a tv set up!
Katie and I decided to pull out old 4-H projects. We sure we stylin’! We laughed SO HARD! Wow have the styles changed!
This is the crazy ice storm we beat! Sunday morning everything was shut down (including all churches) because of the ice storm. There was a 1/4-1/2 inch of ice. Dan slid down the driveway to get the paper that morning…
At night we went to Matt and Kari’s kids’ Christmas program – always a hoot when you have like 90 kids up front!
Thankfully my parents didn’t have any trees come down because of the ice
This is a sheet of ice that Dan chipped off our vehicle
Saturday and Sunday we spent in Borculo, then Monday and Tuesday we spent in St. Joseph. Monday mid-morning we loaded into the Sterk’s van with the kids and headed to Chuck-E-Cheese!
Oh how good it feels to be a kid again! How fun to play games with them – especially ski-ball! What a classic game
Dan and Mike (Dan’s brother) had a blast together as always!
What a fun first few days we had! Unfortunately Dan and I both came down with pretty nasty colds during Christmas, but we were thankful it wasn’t the flu, like some had.
I will do the 2nd installment of our Christmas festivities soon!
