Day 6: Candles/Air Fresheners
What: Candles and Air Fresheners
Why: Homemade Apple Pie. Fresh Laundry. Tahiti Sunset. You name it. There is a candle scent for EVERYTHING. Candles “liven” up a room, can create a mood, and are a great way to cover up those “unnatural” smells in life. Yet, I find myself having SO MANY candles. And you may think “I don’t have any…” Well, do you have air fresheners? Sprays?
How:
1. Whatever you use to “freshen” up your house, grab them all – even the candle holders or air freshener holders. If you have to take them out of the wall, take them out of the wall.
2. Sort
- What do you use on a regular basis? Put them aside.
- What do you use on occasion? Put them aside.
- The rest? You guessed it, THROW THEM AWAY (or donate them).
- Yes, you may think you will use them all up one day, but again, that day will not come. That is why you STILL are holding onto them – because that day hasn’t come
3. Go plug the ones you are currently using back in the wall or set the candles in their appropriate places.
4. The rest? Put them all in ONE box or bag. No need to have candles and “smellers” all over the house. Put them all in one spot so that you know EXACTLY where to get that refill or where to get another candle.
5. All those candle holders that you never use? Donate them. You probably don’t light all of those candles at once anyways, so why have so many holders? Get them out of your house.
6. If you have a hard time parting with your fresheners or candles, then use up what you have, BEFORE buying anymore!
Confession of the Day: Even though I do not burn candles THAT often, I realized that I had so MANY candle holders – those cheap glass ones. Why did I have so many, I have no clue. So I donated them and the space where I stored them, does not miss them AT ALL. And, I now have ONE bag of candles, instead of a whole box.
