Ever Forget To Do Something? Here’s MY Solution
When I was recovering from surgery last fall, the medications I was on, honestly made me lose my mind! Dan and I joked that I had pregnancy brain, something fierce. When I was pregnant with Mazy, I think I would’ve forgotten my head if Dan didn’t remind me to take it along! That sure was a marriage tester. But it was all in prep for what was to come…
Then I joined the brain fog group and struggled to remember anything and everything! Remembering to make a meal was a miracle – needless to say, I humbly accepted many meals into our home, due to the fact that I am not sure I could’ve even followed a recipe!
So how in the world did I keep my ducks in a row? How did I not forget to take a medication, call a doctor, schedule my visiting nurse and physical therapy visits?
I WROTE EVERYTHING DOWN.
My most recommended tool so that you will not forget ANYTHING…
STICKY NOTES.
It’s as simple as that! Since last summer, I have been writing down EVERYTHING. I even have a “Do” app on my phone to “write down” things I need to remember to do, which acts like a sticky note. And maybe I even have to write on an actual sticky note to check my phone’s notes, but this girl is not going to forget!
So the question you might be wondering…how do I have time to write everything neatly on a sticky note?
Honestly, it is usually one word scribbles. Nothing special, folks! Everyday I have a sticky note going of things I have to remember to do or things I want to accomplish (which more on that in another post coming up). It might a person’s name, to remind me that I need to buy a present or send a birthday card. It may be the word milk, to remember to buy it at the grocery store. It may be soup – to remember to find one to make for the week ahead. It may say bills, to remind me to pay the bills on the desk. Another? Basement door – to remember to look for the basement door to match the opening where there was no door. The sticky notes are nothing fancy, but it sure reminds me of the things I need to do.
I also write every event on a calendar right above the sticky notes, so that I won’t forget to show up at something. So that is more for events, where the sticky notes are more the “subtitles” of what I need to remember to do.
I have been doing this for over a year and it really hasn’t failed me yet – even when my brain was in a complete fog. If it doesn’t get on a sticky note though, you can pretty much guarantee that I won’t remember…
How about you? What is your foolproof way to not forget something?
