God.Family.Football – New Documentary!
A few weeks ago, I mentioned that there is a new documentary coming out on Amazon FreeVee, called God.Family.Football. This 6 episode series is set to release on September 1, 2023, and will be available to stream for free on Amazon Freevee!
I was able to get a sneak peak into this series and first I thought I’d give you a glimpse into what God. Family. Football. is about. It follows ex-football player and high school football coach Denny Duron as he returns to once again coach the Louisiana-based team that he once led. Duron has been retired for 30 years, but decides to return to Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, La., after the one-time high school football powerhouse fell on rough times. Once home to 14 state championships in the last 20 years, the team is now coming off its worst season in school history. The series focuses on the 2022 high school football season as Evangel Christian Academy — which has sent more football players to the NFL and NCAA Division 1 college football programs than any other high school in the state — looks to rebuild.

After watching it, I had to remind myself that this isn’t a movie, but is a 6-episode documentary series, so you’re not going to get the full story in one episode. So at times it felt a little slow, but it each episode described the real-life journey these guys were on at Evangel Christian Academy and how they became who they are today. But I kept coming back to it and it really is a compelling story that has you cheering all the way to the end! NFL quarterback, Russell Wilson, is an executive producer, which helps tell this story that is real, raw, and emotional.
