God’s Work Through Others
This past week (since I’ve blogged last) has really opened my eyes to God’s sovereignty. So many times I have asked “okay God, what are you doing here?”
Do you ever find yourself asking that question?
These past few weeks I have been blessed to meet with many different people. Almost 2 weeks ago now, I had a chance to meet with someone whom I had met through our gestational carrier situation. She is a fellow blogger herself and that is how we got in contact with each other. Prior to, we had no clue who each other was, but before we knew it, we were finding connections (gotta love the Dutch bingo!). We met at Panera Bread in Holland and had such beautiful conversations. I felt like I have known her my whole life and I am blessed to now have her IN my life.
Last week Dan and I had dinner with a missionary family who is on furlough. What a BLESSED time. This is another case of “not knowing someone prior to very well, then walking away feeling you’ve known them forever.” Our conversations were filled with laughter, amazement at what God is doing in their life, and also times of seriousness too. As we were eating, I just looked around the table and thought “this is what I would like my family to be like SOMEday.” There was so much respect for each other, politeness, grace, yet laughter. Ah, it was so beautiful. I can tell the parents are truly invested in their kids’ lives. We are hoping to only build on the friendship we have established and are blessed to know them. They challenged us with their faith and confidence in God’s plan for them – truly inspiring!
God has also shown us so ways that He is sovereign and we have zero control over our own lives. He will do whatever He deems best for us, even when we start to wonder why. God has given us people to encourage us in ways we never expected. Some things going on have been tough, wondering what God is trying to do, but I have never felt the urge to pray for “surrendering” more than I have now. It’s so hard to understand sometimes what God is trying to do, so instead of trying to figure out what God is doing, I am just trying to give EVERY little detail up to God.
Last night we had youth group and a few times during the night, I just sat there thinking wow, God is doing so much in these kids’ lives right now! I can SEE the passion they have to live an upright and honorable life for God. I can see the urgency to do it. I can see the love they have for each other (aside from all the joking of course). This youth group “season” has just been so amazing!
We look forward to see what God continues to do in our life. He has worked in ways we have NEVER imagined He would – in ways that cause us to ask, “okay God, what are ya doing here?” But through all of the ways, God has placed people in our life to challenge and change us (as listed above).
Who in your life has made an impact on you over the past few weeks? Don’t be afraid to tell them! Who has influenced you? Who has God used to draw you closer to Him? Thank God today for them.
This post probably seems a little scatter-brained – it’s because I am :). Hopefully it’ll all come together someday!
Until next time…
I'm WAY behind on blog-reading, but it was so great to meet you!!! Can't wait to sit and chat again!
