Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme
Are you a fan of Taco Bell? Well, even if you aren’t, have you ever heard of the crunchwrap supreme? It is a favorite of mine because it combines the chewy and crunchy version of cheesy Mexican food in one bite. Mmmm Mmmm good.
I have always wanted to try and make my own, but didn’t know where to get the tostada shells – the crunchy shell that goes in the middle of the crunchwrap. UNTIL, I saw them at Aldi! Then I knew it was time…
Really, a crunchwrap supreme is just like a taco, it just looks different and it has what I’d like to call “the works” in it. All the toppings you love in a taco, are right in the middle of a crunchwrap supreme.
And surprisingly, they are not difficult to make! It was a very easy process and as my husband said, “this is definitely something you need to make again.” That I will be doing! So if you want to try and make your own crunchwrap supremes, here is a little guide:
Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme {Print Recipe}
Ingredients:
- Large flour tortillas
- Tostada shells
- Nacho cheese
- Hamburger
- Taco seasoning
- Sour cream
- Tomatoes
- Lettuce
- Cheese – shredded
Directions:
- Brown hamburger and add taco seasoning as directed.
- Layer in the center of a large flour tortilla: nacho cheese, taco meat, tostada shell, sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce, shredded cheese
- Fold up sides of flour tortilla and flip over, seam side down. (If cheese is still showing, rip or cut a small section of another flour tortilla and put it in the center; then fold up).
- Spray pan on stove, put crunchwrap in pan, seam side down, and let sizzle for 1-2 minutes on each side.
- NOTE: I have found that doing it on the stove, the shredded cheese doesn’t always melt, so turn the oven on to 400 degrees, brush with butter or spray with oil, and bake until golden brown on each side. This way too, you can heat up all the crunchwraps at one time, instead of individually on the stovetop).
Here’s the directions in pictures:
Layer ingredients on a large flour tortilla.
Fold up edges of large flour tortilla. But…
If there is a gap around the edges, rip or cut a small section of a flour tortilla and lay on the center.
Then fold back up and flip over, seam side down.
Heat a small amount of oil or spray each side; let sizzle in pan or put in the oven.
A supper you will LOVE and appreciate the ease of this recipe too!
This is definitely a meal we will be having again in the near future! No need to go to Taco Bell anymore! You could even “spice” up the recipe and put Doritos in the middle instead of a tostada shell, to copycat some other Taco Bell recipes! And, you can use whatever ingredients you prefer – the joys of making homemade meals!
