  • Thankful Still

Sometimes it’s hard to understand why God allows what he does, isn’t it? Why the hurt. Why the broken relationship. Why the pain. Why the disappointment. I’m sure we have all wondered why in our journeys in this life. As much as we can feel isolated on our own deserted island of grief, pain, and…

  • TWO YEARS Post Transplant!

Today marks TWO YEARS since my bone marrow transplant! This is a MASSIVE milestone in the journey, as the risk for relapse decreases even more AND because my donor is international, that means I can FINALLY find out who she is, hopefully next week! For being a woman of many words, words will never adequately…

  • Life Back Home

As you can about imagine, it feels so good to be home! To just be in the same household, eating at the same table together, hearing my family’s voices, it’s all been such a gift. Even though home is exactly where I want to be, it hasn’t always been easy. A bone marrow transplant brings…

  • No Trace

Over the past couple of years, God has really challenged our faith. It seemed like medical issues were hitting us left and right and I suppose still are. I’m in the middle of my heart failure and cancer battle, and it has challenged us to the core. One of my mottos throughout this whole journey…

  • BMT Day +3!

The hospital I am at, started a new therapy within the last month, called “red light therapy”. Maybe you have heard of it or even have a machine at home, but this is one of the many tools used to help manage bone marrow transplant side effects, such as mucositis (sores in mouth). Who knew?…

  • Beyond These 4 Walls

A week ago, we could’ve never imagined that we would be walking the road of leukemia. A word I knew NOTHING about, 7 days ago. With severe heart failure. There are some things in life that you can imagine or picture yourself going through, but this one? I’ve struggled. A week ago, I sat weeping,…

  1. The Temu shopping site sells a wide variety of red light therapy devices at a fraction of the cost of your example. I personally have a small, inexpensive one for hair growth, and it has actually improved the thickness of my hair. I am unaware of any differences in quality between Temu’s products and the one you recommend, all I know is that Temu’s are way less expensive.

    1. That’s great that you’ve seen growth! The only thing that I would caution with buying one from Temu is that it is probably not FDA approved or has standards or certifications that it needs to meet. As beneficial as RLT is, it can also be used incorrectly and if the standards aren’t monitored, I’m not sure it’s 100% safe to use. I would check to see if it has low EMF, if it has been tested, what it’s irradiance is, etc. There are MANY different devices out there for RLT, I guess for me personally, when I’m putting something on my body, I want to ensure it’s safe to use and if a product isn’t tested, isn’t FDA approved, or has high EMF, I would be very hesitant. But I’m not sure of the product you have. I would research “does quality of rlt device matter” etc. and that’ll give you some info to think about. But again, your device might meet all of that criteria too. Hope this is helpful!

      1. Kristin, you are quite right in that I do not know about the details of my red light hair gizmo. I do know that most (?) of our electronics come from China, so I dared to try this product. It LOOKS like other red light products. ha ha I will let someone else do the research while I lay my gizmo aside.
        P.S. I love your blogs!

        1. Kerry, I think you’re spot on that most of our electronics do come from China :). And I dare bet that if we went through our house, many of ours would be! I think it is very fair to want to try it, especially for such a cost difference! And like you said, it LOOKS legit too, and that I would so agree with! But as with anything, how a product comes about does matter, especially when it comes to something that we are using to improve our bodies. I know with some of the unregulated devices, the amount of electro magnetic fields aren’t regulated. I’m not saying they are like microwaves, but I think waiting for more research to come out wouldn’t be a bad thing either. As the ole saying goes, rather be safe than sorry, right :)? Please let me know though if you have any more questions! I’ve been working on a post about why the Lumebox versus other brands, and so that might be helpful too b/c that will hit on the very things we are talking about. I appreciate your encouragement, Kerry, and please keep in touch!
