How To SIMPLY Edit A Photo
I take numerous pictures a week. Many of them are never printed individually, but are digitally put into my scrapbook each year that I create through Blurb.com. Though, there are those select few that I do want to print and display in our home. Not to mention, as a blogger, I tend to modify a photo I took, to put a title on or for other purposes.
I used to use Picmonkey, but they have since started charging to save the edited photo, which isn’t worth it in my book. I am all about FREE. I know I could probably buy a relatively cheap program that would last me a lifetime, but I knew there had to be a program out there that was easy to use and maybe even similar to Picmonkey. I searched for awhile and finally found one!
IPICCY – www.ipiccy.com
I am not an ambassador, nor do I get any kickback for bragging about this website, but what I am about is simple living. This photo editing website is very easy to use, if you have ever used Picmonkey. In fact, it is set up like Picmonkey, with some slight differences. AND IT’S FREE! AND YOU CAN SAVE THE PHOTOS YOU EDIT!
So enough about my love for Ipiccy…on with how I edit my photos.
One Christmas, Dan bought me a NICE camera – a Nikon D3300. We both figured that if I were going to have someone professionally take our pictures for every age milestone I wanted to have them taken at, it would be wiser to just buy a nice camera and take them myself than pay someone. Well, little did I know that one Christmas he slyly found one and bought it for me! Now, I say this all hesitantly because I am SURE I will pay someone in the future to take photos of Mazy! And in fact, I know photographers out there who do a FAR better job than I do – hands down. But for right now, this is just what works for us. Mazy lasts about 1 or 2 minutes when it comes to taking photos and I figure I might as well just take them then!
Okay…on with how I edit my photos!
So I have a nice camera, which helps. But, you will see below, that even a simple and free editing program can do wonders to a photo!
This photo is the original that I took with zero edits:
This is the exact same photo, uploaded into ipiccy.com, with the slightest of edits:
- I clicked the “Auto-Fix” option on the top left editing option
- On that same editing option, I scrolled down to “Vibrance” and it renders itself; I then slightly lowered the vibrance.
- THAT IS IT.
The colors are more vibrant (I know, not a huge shocker when I used the “Vibrance” option, huh) and it seems a bit more clear.
Here’s another original:
I made the exact same edits as the photo example above, with clicking the “Auto-Fix” and “Vibrance” options, but I also straightened the photo (notice how the steps look crooked in the picture above), by clicking the “Rotate and Flip” option:
And one more for kicks…
Just an “Auto-Fix” and “Vibrance” change.
There are 100s of options to enhance a photo on Ipiccy! And I should also say, that I am NO PROFESSIONAL when it comes to photo editing! That is why I wanted to share this – two simple ways to edit a photo!! I’m not going to lie and say that I wish I knew more, so if you have ANY simple photo editing ideas or knowledge, please do share! I’d love to learn other tricks! Until then, my two-edit method works GREAT!
