I started this yesterday, but we had to head up to my parents, so here I am continuing this…
Dan came home for lunch and we had such amazing conversations that I had to share them. First off, I will preface this with we are excited about this weekend because we don’t have anything church related on the schedule for Friday or Saturday. I know that sounds like we don’t enjoy church related things, but sometimes we need to take a step back and just be us. We have that this weekend. We have small group on Sunday, but we love that, but no youth group. It’ll be very strange because every Sunday evening our house is filled with those kids, so I will be honest, I will miss them, but it’ll be good for us.
With that said, we were sitting eating lunch looking forward to Dan and I time this weekend. We started to talk about what the verse Micah 6:8 means to us. If you were a Calvinette back in the day, this verse is definitely familiar, but let me refresh your memory:
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
We started to think about how we live that out. What are we doing and not doing to proclaim that verse? We talked about where we are in our life right now and where we see this verse impacting our “later” years. Humbly walking with God impacts every aspect of our life. When we humbly walk with God, we realize that everything that is “ours” isn’t ours – it’s God’s. When we looked around our house, it made us realize that it’s not “ours” so because of that, we need to use it for the glory of God. What aren’t we using for God’s glory? We were talking about helping those in need. As much as we wish we could just write a check for someone in need so that they didn’t have to worry about the money aspect of a problem, we realize that giving of time is just as important. What is God challenging us to do now, to give or dedicate more time to him? To solve the issue? Humbly walk with God. Acting justly and loving mercy almost comes naturally after walking humbly with God. So much about our faith starts at the beginning with our relationship with God. Do you ever have it when you are having a bad day and then you think, did I spend time with God today? Sometimes in my most worrisome moments, I realize it’s because I haven’t brought them all to my Father.
Humbly walking with God. That is hard to do in a me-culture. But thankfully we have someone to WALK WITH, when so many in the world walk alone.
