Lecrae & Trip Lee Concert
Many of you may know that I am a diehard for Christian rap music. Yes, for me being a Dutch girl, that may come as a surprise to many because I may not look like I would like that type of music. But I have really learned to appreciate the art of Christian rap.
Well, one of my dreams since becoming a Christian rap fan many years ago, was to go to a Lecrae OR Trip Lee concert. I would check both of their concert schedules and realize that they never had concerts real close to home. So, I started thinking that dream was wishful thinking. Yeah, you can probably about guess where this is heading. So, I went on their websites recently, and GUESS WHAT? They BOTH are touring TOGETHER and are going to be at the Orbit Room in Grand Rapids on Friday, September 30!! I absolutely freaked out when I saw that! I was so excited that I couldn’t even fall asleep :). Yes, that may be a little wierd, but that just shows how long and how badly I wanted to see them! Needless to say, I got tickets! Dan, myself, and two of our friends, one still in our youth group and one in college, are also coming with us. September 30 cannot come soon enough!
I just really strongly believe in the mission that Lecrae and Trip Lee have. If you have never listened to their music or quite frankly hate rap, I just ask you to give them a shot. Check out their website and click on their profiles – they have pretty amazing stories of how God has brought them to the point where they are today! Here is their website:

Whenever I get into conversations with people about Christian rap, I always ask them if they have listened to the lyrics. The style of music may not be their utmost favorite, which is totally fine with me – I understand that. But if you judge their music and say it’s bad without listening to their lyrics, you are judging with arrogance. Dan, even thought he’s not the diehard that I am for Christian rap, appreciates their lyrics and was surprised at what they sing. Talk about Reformed theology coming through! One of the guys going with us put it well – some of the Christian rap songs are MORE Biblically based than some of the mainstream Christian-labeled songs out there. I would have to agree.
So, if you get bored or just want to know why I am so stoked about this concert, check out that website – though beware – you may just love it as much as I do – and your friends may wonder what happened to you…….just blame me :).
