This past week, well, we have obsessedly (yes, I created a new word), watched the Olympics! We have stepped outside to enjoy the nice weather this week too, but when we can, we watch the world come together for these few weeks, and for the most part, put aside our differences, which we love! Here’s…

This past week was a little hectic as I went back to work! I felt I had thoroughly enjoyed the summer, spent amazing and quality time with Mazy, and so I felt ready to go back to work my 2 days. Plus, Mazy is just such a sucker for her dad, so I knew she…

So thankful for a wonderful week to celebrate Thanksgiving! Not going to lie, I didn’t really take many pictures because we were just enjoying our time with our families! Nothing earth-shattering happened with the Sterks this week, but here’s a little glimpse at what it looked like! Mazy and I got all decked out for…

Home once again! I have spent the past 2 weeks in Michigan, visiting family, soaking in the sun and catching up with family on vacation, and just enjoying the Michigan summers. It was a whirlwind of a trip! We headed to St. Joseph on June 10 (drove through the night) because we had Dan’s Grandma’s…

WE ARE DONE with our quarantine projects! We wouldn’t have spent this time any other way, but there is something to be said about the feeling of accomplishment after major projects, eh? Completely worth it and I would do it all over again (though I hope we don’t have to for awhile :)). We learned…

  1. Kristin – what a journey you have been on! And what a testimony you have by sharing it with others. I’m curious if you had a bone marrow transplant, or a stem cell transplant? Where did you have it done? 20 years ago this Saturday I was the donor (stem cells) for my brother. And I’m so happy to say he is still alive – he is now 58. We did it at U of M in Ann Arbor.

    1. Hi Wendy! Thank you for your comment! That is a great question! So I had a stem cell transplant (thought they still call it a bone marrow transplant), b/c I think that is typically what they do these days. They have the donor take shots about 5 days prior so that eventually their bone marrow spills over into their blood, so technically it’s a stem cell transplant, but they still all it a BMT? I had mine done in Grand Rapids, but my donor is from Germany! I think it is incredible that you are able to give 20 years ago and that your brother is still doing well today! What an incredible gift you gave him, Wendy! Did you do a BMT or a stem cell? I’m thinking stem cell, but truly, what a sacrificial gift you gave him and that he is doing so well. I find this all so fascinating! I was originally going to have mine done at U of M, but because we’d have to move out there for a year, we asked if we could be referred to GR, and a doctor there was willing to accept me, which was SUCH a gift, so that my family wouldn’t have to move out there with me! Technology is such a gift and I know it’s sometimes hard to balance it all, but God has been so gracious to us all and Wendy, your testimony speaks of the same! Thank you for sharing your experience and I am so grateful that your brother is doing well because of your donation!
