  • 30 Weeks!

Oh to be 30 weeks! This week as I was praying and thanking God for taking us this far, I found myself whispering the words to my Father “I am pregnant. I am PREGNANT.” Tears welled up in my eyes as I spoke those words with so much hope, yet peace that God had answered…

  • God’s Hand, My Heart

Today wasn’t what we expected, but God was never surprised. The past couple of weeks, a few times I have woken up with shortness of breath and a bit wheezy in the morning. I chalked it up to allergies since we had our window open, and the farmers are in the fields. It all made…

  • Around The Home

We knew the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas would fly by, and we sure were not wrong! Hard to believe we will be leaving once again for Michigan for Christmas this week! We value that time with family incredibly, so we would not miss the opportunity. It has been a VERY chilly week in Minnesota….

  • 17 Week Checkup!

Mile marker 17! I was looking very forward to my 17 week check up, since it has been since 3 weeks since my last. Not long in the grand scheme of a pregnancy, but plenty long when I know the further along I am, the closer we get to meeting our little one. Apprehension set…

  1. Kristin – what a journey you have been on! And what a testimony you have by sharing it with others. I’m curious if you had a bone marrow transplant, or a stem cell transplant? Where did you have it done? 20 years ago this Saturday I was the donor (stem cells) for my brother. And I’m so happy to say he is still alive – he is now 58. We did it at U of M in Ann Arbor.

    1. Hi Wendy! Thank you for your comment! That is a great question! So I had a stem cell transplant (thought they still call it a bone marrow transplant), b/c I think that is typically what they do these days. They have the donor take shots about 5 days prior so that eventually their bone marrow spills over into their blood, so technically it’s a stem cell transplant, but they still all it a BMT? I had mine done in Grand Rapids, but my donor is from Germany! I think it is incredible that you are able to give 20 years ago and that your brother is still doing well today! What an incredible gift you gave him, Wendy! Did you do a BMT or a stem cell? I’m thinking stem cell, but truly, what a sacrificial gift you gave him and that he is doing so well. I find this all so fascinating! I was originally going to have mine done at U of M, but because we’d have to move out there for a year, we asked if we could be referred to GR, and a doctor there was willing to accept me, which was SUCH a gift, so that my family wouldn’t have to move out there with me! Technology is such a gift and I know it’s sometimes hard to balance it all, but God has been so gracious to us all and Wendy, your testimony speaks of the same! Thank you for sharing your experience and I am so grateful that your brother is doing well because of your donation!
