It is no exaggeration that this week and the weeks/months to come, will be one that we will be telling our great-grandkids about someday! I feel we are living in a bit of a surreal moment in life, like I never thought that all of this sickness and disease would lead to this. But, “God…

We have our Mazy girl back! She seems to be feeling 100% better and oh how thankful we are to be at this point! She is our crazy Mazy again, is a complete goofball, and we have missed seeing this, knowing she did not feel well for all too long. Dan is gone for 2…

I’m just going to start right off with this picture of a rainbox. This was taken at my in-laws house on Monday night, the day before I had some testing down at the U of M. I can’t say that day went completely as planned as we found out I was having a significant amount…

This moment in our life, we have dreamed about for years. Years of prayers, years of dreaming, and years of wondering when, just maybe when, it would be our time to have a child. Many have said “oh, just wait until you have to change diapers and stay up with her all night because she…

Hello photo dump! This past week absolutely flew by, which it seems to always happen after getting back from vacation the week before, but also getting prepared for school for Mazy, and I also started a new job at the local Christian school, doing after school care! Lots to learn, lots to do, and lots…

Not much by way of introduction, since we’ve kinda got the same ‘ole, same ‘ole, going on! So here goes… Mazy got some face paint from the dollar store and so she had to give it a try. You can tell someone was ecstatic about it and someone else was not: Mazy’s school had a…

  1. Kristin – what a journey you have been on! And what a testimony you have by sharing it with others. I’m curious if you had a bone marrow transplant, or a stem cell transplant? Where did you have it done? 20 years ago this Saturday I was the donor (stem cells) for my brother. And I’m so happy to say he is still alive – he is now 58. We did it at U of M in Ann Arbor.

    1. Hi Wendy! Thank you for your comment! That is a great question! So I had a stem cell transplant (thought they still call it a bone marrow transplant), b/c I think that is typically what they do these days. They have the donor take shots about 5 days prior so that eventually their bone marrow spills over into their blood, so technically it’s a stem cell transplant, but they still all it a BMT? I had mine done in Grand Rapids, but my donor is from Germany! I think it is incredible that you are able to give 20 years ago and that your brother is still doing well today! What an incredible gift you gave him, Wendy! Did you do a BMT or a stem cell? I’m thinking stem cell, but truly, what a sacrificial gift you gave him and that he is doing so well. I find this all so fascinating! I was originally going to have mine done at U of M, but because we’d have to move out there for a year, we asked if we could be referred to GR, and a doctor there was willing to accept me, which was SUCH a gift, so that my family wouldn’t have to move out there with me! Technology is such a gift and I know it’s sometimes hard to balance it all, but God has been so gracious to us all and Wendy, your testimony speaks of the same! Thank you for sharing your experience and I am so grateful that your brother is doing well because of your donation!
