  • When I Catch Myself…

I suppose I would still label myself as a new mom. I don’t really know when that classification or title is no longer, but what I do know is that I am learning that am… Weird. Feel free to laugh! I’d like to think that the excuse is in being a new mom, but I…

  • Around The Home

This past week has been one of recovery and as of Friday, I have had all restrictions lifted, pending pain! Of course that makes me want to do everything I couldn’t do in the past, but they were right – pain will let me know when I can’t do something. It’ll be slow, but good….

  • Thanksgiving Weekend

What a weekend to be THANKFUL! Tuesday night, after basketball practice, we drove through the night to Michigan. I know, we may be crazy to drive through the night, but we didn’t want to “waste” a day by driving during the day – especially on the busiest traveling day of the year – Wednesday. When…

  1. Kristin – what a journey you have been on! And what a testimony you have by sharing it with others. I’m curious if you had a bone marrow transplant, or a stem cell transplant? Where did you have it done? 20 years ago this Saturday I was the donor (stem cells) for my brother. And I’m so happy to say he is still alive – he is now 58. We did it at U of M in Ann Arbor.

    1. Hi Wendy! Thank you for your comment! That is a great question! So I had a stem cell transplant (thought they still call it a bone marrow transplant), b/c I think that is typically what they do these days. They have the donor take shots about 5 days prior so that eventually their bone marrow spills over into their blood, so technically it’s a stem cell transplant, but they still all it a BMT? I had mine done in Grand Rapids, but my donor is from Germany! I think it is incredible that you are able to give 20 years ago and that your brother is still doing well today! What an incredible gift you gave him, Wendy! Did you do a BMT or a stem cell? I’m thinking stem cell, but truly, what a sacrificial gift you gave him and that he is doing so well. I find this all so fascinating! I was originally going to have mine done at U of M, but because we’d have to move out there for a year, we asked if we could be referred to GR, and a doctor there was willing to accept me, which was SUCH a gift, so that my family wouldn’t have to move out there with me! Technology is such a gift and I know it’s sometimes hard to balance it all, but God has been so gracious to us all and Wendy, your testimony speaks of the same! Thank you for sharing your experience and I am so grateful that your brother is doing well because of your donation!
