Little a This, Little a That
Here’s what’s been going on…
Dan and I went for a walk the other night to get a good view of the lake (it’s only like 6 blocks away), and were just shocked at how it became 2/3 the way through April already. It’s on those walks that we just get caught up with each other. We rehash all that has happened and talk about what will be. As crazy as the year 2012 has been already, we are incredibly thankful for it.
Dan and I are pumped because we will be heading to Florida again in just a short while! We always look so forward to our getaways because our home is not there to remind us of what needs to be done, what should be done, and we just literally feel we are just leaving everything behind – such a great feeling. Plus, we get to hang our with our friend Lauren! She is such a blessing to us and we are just thankful that she’s willing to put up with these two Sterks for a long weekend! We don’t have any real big plans down there, maybe go to some springs (which sound really cool), but if we just end up at the beach or by the pool one day, that is just fine with us.
We are also anticipating our mission trip to Alaska this summer! It’s been a little bit of bugger trying to find plane tickets (anybody who has tried to fly or will be, probably understands). But, we have some reserved thankfully and though they are just a little more than what we were hoping, we know God’s got this one (as He does everything else).
My friend and I this weekend are putting on a church bridal shower for Tracie (one of my best friends)! Looking SO forward to it! It’s been a lot of fun to plan and I just think any shower is just a blast. I think showers say so much – so much about the body of Christ. We gather in support of Tracie. We gather as sisters in Christ. We show our love through our gifts. And we laugh together as the body of Christ. Can’t wait to tell you all about it…can’t say too much now because I don’t want to give it all away. Looking forward to the wedding too on June 16! Woohoo!
About oh, a month ago, someone generously had given us their boat! We were hoping to one day get something a little bigger so that we could take more of our youth group kids fishing. We have put that on hold because of the baby situation. The one we have is great for 2 people. 3 it’s getting too comfy. 4, there is no shot. So, someone had given us a 16′ boat because he just didn’t use it anymore. I bawled when Dan called me and told me what this man was doing for us. Just cried. We felt so humbled and just couldn’t believe it. All of the wood was rotted on the inside so we have gutted it completely, but it’s been a blast rebuilding it! We have had SUCH wonderful help and everytime we see that boat, we just see it as SUCH a gift. God has blessed us in ways we NEVER expected. Very undeserving and we pray and pray as often as we remember to, that God would help us use it for HIS honor and glory. That we will just use it build relationships. With all that said, a lot of our time has been spent rebuilding it and just laughing at ourselves. We have said that we will NEVER build a new house – rebuilding the inside of a boat is good enough for us. Not that we ever planned on building one, but that decision was made :).
That is why the gift of our vehicle too, is such an answer to prayer as well! Our car has a hitch, but definitely would not pull this boat well at all. So, God has just provided in countless ways for us!
Well, the boat is calling our names, so we better go work on it! Hope you all have a good Friday!
