Mazy’s Favorite Books
We like to read in our house. There is something peaceful about pulling out a book, cuddling and squishing together on the couch, as we soak in the story and allow ourselves to imagine beyond the present. Thankfully Mazy likes to sit and read books now. She didn’t always love to, which comes with age, I suppose. Though I used to very much dislike reading as a child, so I have no room to talk.
But, with that said, I found a handful of books that are Mazy’s go-to books in our house OR at the library! We sometimes take a book out we just had from the library, as soon as it is back on the shelf! Do you have any of those? Sometimes I think oh, I should just buy it, but then it’s not as special getting it from the library, right?
Mazers and I will sit in the chair in her room and as she stacks a whole pile of books on my lap, my heart starts to get more and more excited, as those quiet times together only get longer the higher the stack is. I love seeing her scan each picture with so much intention and wonder. Those moments, we hold onto tightly.
If you have wondered what would be in the “stack” that she puts on my lap, here is a list of the top 10 favorite books in our home:
Old MacDonald Had A Truck – this book will have you repeating it’s rhymes the rest of the day! It’s a bit addicting and oh so hilarious to hear your child try and repeat the rhymes!
Secrets of the Rain Forest – Get your flashlights outs! Find secrets hidden on every page simply by shining a flashlight behind each page! There are other books in this series as well. Mazy also loves the “Seashore” one too!
Who’s Ready To Play – Every page looks the same, but there are small differences on each, with simple questions to answer. A very unique book with lots of fun inside!
Cats and Dogs Picture Puzzle Book – Mazy’s new favorite book! Answer questions on each page by finding the dog or cat with that matches that description. Even better than Where’s Waldo!
The Wonder of the Greatest Gift: An Interactive Family Celebration of Advent – With Advent here, this is by far the best Advent book I have seen! It includes a fold out Christmas tree that your child can ornaments from the book on, that go along with the story for the day. The stories are perfect for young and old children and I appreciate how interactive it is.
God Gave Us You – This has been a favorite of Mazy’s for well over a year now. She loves the idea of babies, mommy’s, and being born. Couple that with the reality that God is the one who creates life, and this is my favorite book too!
Baby’s Very First Slide and See: Under the Sea – Indeed it says “Baby’s” but yes, this is still one that Mazy always puts on my lap to read. Instead of flaps that can break off, this book has “slides” that you can push back and forth. Yes, it’s for babies, toddlers, and youngsters alike! There are others in this series as well.
Very First Book of Things to Spot – Can you tell that we like seek and find books? The questions that each page has, keeps your child engaged and you can even make up your own questions! A very creative way to design a seek and find book. Haven’t ever found one like it!
M is for Mitten: A Michigan Alphabet Book – This book is FILLED with history, facts, and educational tidbits that will leave you learning just as much as your child!
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? – A classic. Mazy loves all of the books in this series, but this one, she has about memorized!
What are your child’s favorite books? I’d LOVE to hear about them!
