My Favorite Things – Simple Living Books
A few years ago, I did a “Favorite Things” post every month. I not only loved sharing what we use in our home, but also made me realize the things I appreciate and value in my life. So, I decided to start this series back up since I find myself wanting to share about the things I love and I’m sure I’ll list many things that you also have in your home! And if that’s the case, I’d love to know, so comment below or send me an email!
Without further ado…
One thing I appreciate dearly in life, is reading about simple living. It gets me all geeked and I giggle like a little school girl when I get my hands on yet another simple living book. I have read many, with each giving me another tried and true way to be grateful for what I have and do not keep more than necessary in our home. Do we have plenty? Oh my lands, yes. Could we always get rid of more? Of course. But I feel we are at a place where we use what we have and I am satisfied with that. So how did we get to that point? I wanted to share a few of the resources I have used. And some of them are NOT “stuff” oriented, but are mindset-oriented, which can just as much of a game-changer.
The Lazy Genius Way – Kendra Adachi
This has been the latest book I’ve read when it comes to simple living, and what a refreshing read! As the sub-title reads, embrace what matters, ditch what doesn’t, and get stuff done. And seriously, this book teaches you to do just that!
The Joy of Less – Francine Jay
Want to streamline what you own? Pare down room by room? It’s lighthearted, yet is the perfect book to use when trying to simplify:
If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like to go from an everyday, ordinary life to living a more simple and sustainable life, this is a book is for you. While taking ideas from the Amish, it will make you question many of the choices you make everyday. Almost Amish is one of my favorite books of all-time, and is one you want to have on your shelf for years to come!
If you’ve ever wanted to redefine what your day of rest looks like, this book is for you. 24/6 encourages you to live a more God-centered life in a technology crazed world, and learn to have an ACTUAL day of rest, with simple and practical applications.
100 Days of Less E-Book – Kristin Sterk
Finally, if you are wanting to declutter your home and only keep what is useful and beautiful, check out the e-book I wrote this year, 100 Days of Less! It takes 100 areas of your home and helps you organize and declutter each of those areas, with the end goal of LIVING WITH LESS.
What is YOUR favorite book about simple living? I’d love to hear your suggestions as I’m always up for a new read!
