Not My Story, But God’s Story To Share
We all have a story to tell.
For each story is different and each story carries its own significance. You may think well, my story really isn’t worth sharing, but you know what? When we share of God’s glory, goodness, and workings in our own lives, you might just encourage one to do the same. Because as the song goes, “This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior, all the day long…”
When we choose to speak of his grace and name, we aren’t speaking about ourselves, but speaking of HIS name. And with that said, I want to share a little piece of my life with you all.
About a year and a half ago, we were asked by Charles Morris, the voice of Haven Today, a Christian radio broadcast, to do an interview. I immediately thought oh, no way, especially when I looked at the names of those he had interviewed in the past. I thought there is no way that what God has done in my life, compares to those who have spoken before. But I had it ALL wrong. I thought about it only from my limited perspective and did not first give thought to what God had in store. So I said yes.
One chilly October morning, Dan and I sat down with Charles, who was in town to meet with a friend of his and ours, who happened to be the one who connected us in the first place. I had never done an interview-type telling of my story before, and I’ll admit, I was pretty nervous. Meanwhile, it was obviously being recorded, which added even more “pressure”, but again, I was making it about my human perspective. Once I told myself it’s not about my story and this microphone in front of me, but about God’s story through me. My heart was at ease. And that mentality has carried me through much of life since then, when the nerves start to overtake.
As we sat with Charles Morris, telling our story, it became very clear once again, that God’s grace is so much more than what we can visibly see at times. Or even choose to see. First, he was such a kind, compassionate, and easy person to talk with. But not only that, as we told our story, it made me realize that guy, I am here not on my own doing, but by HIS sustaining grace.
And so with that, I want to share with you the broadcast that aired a week ago. It is of course just a snippet of our story, but my prayer is that through it, one person’s faith will be encouraged and their heart drawn closer to God. It is part of a 5-part series on Great Stories of Grace.

I do not share this to bring attention to any part of myself, but purely to encourage others to see God working in their lives, to see how mighty and trustworthy he is, and to give him all the glory.
