As we started the trend last week by going to Chicago, today Dan and I decided to visit South Bend. Knowing that we will eventually be moving somewhere (destination yet tbd), we are trying to do the things we’ve been wanting to do, but have never done. Today we paid a visit to the College Football Hall of Fame. It was supposed to move to Georgia either last year or this year, but it was postponed til I think 2014 (I could be WAY off in this), but we knew we had to go soon. As we were talking about where to go, we were going back and forth on whether or not to go, but we kept coming back to “why not?” How many things in life do we not do and regret it later? This one I would’ve regreted if we didn’t go.
We woke up to a GORGEOUS snow covering the ground. I think I did a fist pump in the air because I was so excited. Dan’s parents have a hot tub and what better morning is there to relax in a hot tub with a fresh blanket of snow on the ground?
Then off to South Bend we went. I would highly recommend this “museum” if you are into football at any level. It was way more interesting than I had imagined it being – and I am diehard college football fan (NFL, not so much). I learned so much about the game of football, the dedication it takes, those who have paved the path, and how the game has become what it is today.
We started out on a walk down what I call “Hall of Fame Lane.” Lloyd Carr was proudly on this walk.
There was this awesome theatre that you walk into with big screens surrounding. All of these football players just add to the atmosphere as you watch a video on the joys of college football.
In this “theatre” there were football benches, turf, and plays being drawn – it honestly reminded me a lot of the Big House. And what fight song were they playing when we walked in? Hail to the Victors! Oh yeah!
There was a section on all the major rivalries in college football – of course Ohio St. vs. Michigan being one of them
This is CRAZY! So the longest punt in history is 110 yards!!!!!! IMAGINE that?
The advancement of the football
There was also an area where you could literally test your potential at being a Hall of Famer. It was FUN! You had to test your leap, agility, reach, sprint, throwing, kicking, blocking…you name it. By the end I was sweating – we were putting our ALL into it! I have always been quite good at the v-sit and reach. I was off the charts!
Dan had a better vertical leap than I knew!
Trying to hit the target – I was humbled to say the least
Dan getting set
I kick a field goal like a girl. You can see a little blob right by my foot – yeah, no height whatsoever.
Dan participating in the cheerleading squad
There was a book full of famous fight songs – of course “The Victors” was listed!
This is for you dad! There was a section on mascots and b/c Michigan doesn’t have one, I thought I would support my dad by taking one of Sparty
Outside of the Hall of Fame there is a turf field – pretty cool (though with a random Christmas tree in the middle of it).

It was yet another wonderful Tuesday together! So makes me want to go to a football game – especially a Michigan game! Skipped going to a game this year b/c of finances (Dan had just lost his job), but my sister and I “pounded” it on going next year! Can’t wait til the bowl games start! There is just something about college football that gets me!
We finished off our time in South Bend by going to Olive Garden for the all you can eat soup, salad, and breadsticks, thanks to a gift card! Such a great deal!
Oh how I have just LOVED our Tuesdays! Hanging out with my best friend, living life, and trying to make the most of every opportunity!
