Sterk Update
So what’s been up with the Sterks?
We are almost done with our boat! We just have to carpet it, which we are waiting for (the carpet that is). We keep getting the run around with the store, but nevertheless, it’ll get done – at some point. We are just so excited to take more youth group kids fishing and THEY are excited! They keep wondering when it’ll be done because they want to catch somethin’. And then when we get bored, we can go tubing!
Tonight we had a campfire with the youth group kids who are going to Alaska and it was AWESOME. Dan wanted to recreate what we do Alaska. We started off the night by having 45 minutes of solo/quiet time. In Alaska, we will do that every morning, amidst the mountains. Then we gathered around the campfire, sang a few songs, and then discussed a few questions:
Why do you feel God calling you to Alaska?
What do you hope to experience in Alaska?
What would be on God’s to-do list for you life?
4 years ago, I was unable to go b/c of a pilonidal cyst that I had to have removed a week and half before. I had to back out 2 days before. So, until I am on that plane, I realize God could have a different call on my life – but boy do I pray I am able to go this time! It was SUCH a wonderful time with our kids – to hear them opening up their hearts!
We talked with our lawyer the week with regards to the gestational carrier process! We were thinking that it was going to be a long conversation, but it wasn’t. I was kind of apprehensive about it all day because having to speak with a lawyer is just way beyond anything we’ve dealt with before. BUT. Even though we are treading unfamiliar waters, we are so blessed to have such a wonderful lawyer! He is working on setting up a pre-draft agreement at this point and then we will review it and talk it over with Tim and Brenda. It’s so exciting to start that part of the process – it means that it’s coming fast!
Can you believe that at this time next year, we might be parents? Then again, at this time next year, we could be a family of two – Dan and I. SO THANKFUL that God has got that all under control – we often talk about being parents, but know that despite what happens, the conversations we are having, are for a purpose – it’s just uncertain what that purpose is right now.
Picked strawberries twice this week! Nothing beats those Michigan strawberries! Oh, and strawberry shortcake.
Tomorrow we have our annual June car wash as a fundraiser for youth group! We have the craziest weather sometimes, so we are thankful that it is supposed to be a GORGEOUS day for a car wash tomorrow! It’s always a good time – you can about imagine what a car wash with a bunch of youth group kids is like – just imagine.
And, I spent the afternoon at the beach! I had a long list of things I had to do today, but at lunchtime I told Dan I was outta here (the house) and spend a few hours in the beauty of the beach. As I was walking back to my car after such a relaxing afternoon, I just praised God for the beautiful town of St. Joseph. It was just so beautiful outside! If you are looking for a breath-taking place to go sometime, come to St. Joseph! The beaches in the summer are amazing – and I’m not just saying that :).
