The Littlest of Details
As I was taking a walk/run, I was reminded of God’s splendor all around us. It is a gorgeous day here in the mitten and what a refresher it was to just walk in God’s glorious creation.
Dan and I have been wondering what the next chapter of our life looks like. This blank page in between chapters is really hard; although, I am reminded of the verses in Matthew 6 that talk about God caring for the littlest of details of His creation. And He cares that much more about ME. When it feels as if we are losing so much – what is comfortable, what we love to do (youth ministry), and a church that we love, it sometimes feels like a lonely path. Though, we are constantly reminded of the bigger “church” of brothers and sisters in Christ. He knew that all this would turn our world upside down, but He had people ready and willing to encourage us. Family to embrace us. He has given us an eagerness to keep trying to follow EVERY DETAIL of His will as perfectly as we can. That excites us. We know God can turn ashes into beauty. We know He can turn the broken into new. We know He can fill us to overflowing, as long as we trust Him. When our dependance has to be solely on Him, we know that our old self is continually being destroyed as God puts on our “new self,” which is a reflection of Him. And for that we are thankful. Sometimes we just sit on our couch and wonder “is this really real?” God probably asks us the same thing when turn our back on Him and not trust Him fully – “are they really doing this to me again?” God does care about every little detail. Our faith has waivered. We have wondered why. We have wondered why now. We have cried. But God has us right where He wants us. So many decisions have to be made. Healing needs to occur. But that is RIGHT where God wants us. It is causing us to count on Him to lead us. To count on Him to care for the littlest of details.
And the biggest blessing of it all, is that we continue to have children awaiting us to care for them someday. As much as God can sustain us, He can sustain those little embryos inside Brenda. We have no doubt in our minds that He will do that to perfection because God is perfect. That God is caring for them and us perfectly. And we just trust that God still has them alive in Brenda’s womb. What a beautiful thought!
So on this gorgeous day, fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith. The one who cares about the littlest of details in our lives.
