The Love of God – How Rich and Pure
Think.
Reflect.
What
does the love of God mean to you? Do you take time to consider what the
love of God is? How it influences your life and how you walk through
life?
I have never felt the love of God so strong – it was during
the most difficult of circumstances. Through losing our children, while
losing so much more than just them at the same time, God graciously
reaffirmed His promise to us that we are His children – that He will
never let go.
As a Christian, we often think that the love of God means
happy days. Waking up with a smile on our face. Cruising through each
day with no bumps in the road. Going to bed at night with nothing to
keep us awake. We trick our minds into thinking that the love of God
means an easy life.
The love of God is so much more. It gets me all teary-eyed as I
type this and try to explain what the love of God means to me; to Dan
and I. God’s love has no limits. God’s love truly is unconditional.
God’s love welcomes, embraces, and never lets go. God’s love shows up in
a smile, in a card, in a sunset, in His Word, in song, and His gentle
voice. God’s love also shows through the hardships, death, through
inconceivable circumstances. God’s love is never void.
Romans 8:38 – 39 says:
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither
height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to
separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I can do nothing to make God love me less or love
me more. When I feel weak, that is when He makes me strong. When Dan
and I felt so depleted and defeated, it was the love of God, that
brought us through. God continued to show us Himself through the rest He
gave us, through wiping away our tears with His promises and the
physical touch and words of others, and He confirmed His good plan for
us as we now journey through a new chapter in our life.
What has God taken you through, that has
confirmed His love for you? What weaknesses, struggles, insecurities do
you need to release to His loving embrace? Do you feel you try to do
things to make God love you more?
Remember that God loves you for who He created you to be. Don’t try
to be someone else. Don’t let your love for Him, be conditional. Accept
His unconditional love and hold onto that with all of your heart. This
is a truth that I need to continue to work on daily – because I surely
know that my love has a long ways to go!
