Thoughts about God
Today for some reason I did a lot of thinking. Thinking about the most random things, but all the thoughts just kept leading me to the power of pine sol…
just kidding! Dan just came in and read what I typed and said “oh that’s the power of pine sol!”
Now I can finish my sentence :)….the power and providence of God. I feel like no matter where I look, His providence is constantly in my face AND I LOVE IT! So here are a few random thoughts I had
I was painting the outside of our house b/c we had some “fading” issues and did you ever think about how God gave humans the brains to create technology that produces what seems like billions of paint colors? And then to come up with names for them? Oh how I’d love to be in those meetings – “oh, here’s an orangish color, lets name it Georgian leather!” “Wait…the green though – that’s thyme green.” Seriously. Amazing. And then for a machine to just plop whatever it needs to into the can to create that VERY SPECIFIC color? Just think about that! No wonder it’s hard to find the right color! Our brains are truly a gift from God!
We are dogsitting for some people in our small group and from their house you can see Lake Michigan. Probably don’t have to remind you, but it’s VERY windy today! We saw the sun setting and quickly ran over to an overlook area. The waves were HUGE – Lake Michigan surely was angry. But, then behind the waves the sun quietly went down giving off a pink, orange, and almost purplish color. Think about that. God created nature in such a contrast way sometimes: a raging lake and then one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen. People were lining the overlook (even though it’s not an official one) just to get a glimpse; my only hope is that for each one it brought them back to God’s glory. Even as I sit here I can hear the waves – awesome.
This weekend we have a friend from Newark, New Jersey coming to visit! Jon Rudd was our leader while in Newark on our mission trip and he is heading to a conference in Chicago so he thought he’d swing by! We are PUMPED and so are the kids :). It’s amazing though the relationships that God nurtures even while being somewhere for only a week. It’s that brother and sisterhood in Christ that is sometimes unexplainable. Jon was a missionary kid who lived in Japan, but is now serving the Lord in the inner city of Newark. Yeah he’s 13 hours away from us, but the friendship continues and we are just thankful to God for bringing him into our lives! I believe there is a picture of him and Dan on the mission trip post. He’s the guy the sweet ‘fro :). Think about someone in your life that even though you may only see once a year, you can always pick right back up where you left off. God is giving, isn’t He?
Don’t worry, I thought about more than just these things today, but they were things that made me sit back and just think about God.
Since I started on a “less serious” note, I might as well end on one too!
For those who aren’t aware – IT’S THE FIRST COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAMEDAY TOMORROW!! I AM PUMPED!! I’ve been waiting for this day since the Nat’l Championship was done in January. Just FYI – Michigan plays Connecticut at 3:30 – and they better win!
