What Direction Are You Heading In?
What direction are you heading in?
When you take a look back at your life in the past week, month, year, and past 5 years, what direction is your life heading in? Is it a direction you truly want to be heading in?
The concept is simple – our lives move in the direction of our most powerful thoughts.
What thoughts occupy your mind? What thoughts infiltrate your brain daily?
Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
So how do we renew our minds? By infiltrating our minds with the unchanging truths of God’s word. The world will tell you that you need to read the next self-help book. That you need to go on the latest diet to achieve your goals. That you need to take a pill to solve your problems. That a drink will take all of your cares away. But these are only bandaids and only lead your life in a direction you may not want to be heading.
When we renew our minds with the truth of God’s unchanging word, our lives change too. You may be thinking, I’ve been trying Kristin! I’ve been reading my Bible, praying, trying to be the best version of myself, but nothing is changing. Trust me I’VE BEEN THERE! And am sometimes still there! But have you really asked God to transform you by the renewing of your mind? I can honestly say no to this question. Have you asked God to help you take every thought captive so that you stop believing the lies that aren’t even true, but are setting the course for your life? This I have also not done consistently. And it shows in my faith.
Jesus used scripture to counteract Satan’s temptations. Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinks within himself, so he is. ” What we think is who we see ourselves as and often who we become. Jesus knew His Bible and he used it to counteract the lies that Satan was trying to get him with. Jesus’ thought patterns were rooted in truth and it showed in how he lived his life. He knew no sin, but was tempted in every way. So let me ask again, what direction is your life heading? Your thought patterns determine the direction your life is heading. Where are your thought patterns rooted? In the word of God or in the word of the world?
Renew your mind by taking every thought captive with the unchanging truths of God’s word. Don’t wait until tomorrow. Start right now by thinking about what you’re thinking. Does it line up with the word of God? Or is it rooted in the ways of this world? I know I’ve got a LONG ways to go with this. I’ve believed the lies that Satan has told me for far too long and they’ve set the course for how I live at times. In fear, worry, anxiety, etc., and it’s because I haven’t taken every thought captive and held it up to the light of God’s word. Will you join me in doing just that – taking your thoughts and holding them up to THE Truth? I promise, your life will be changed because we will see God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will more clearly. And that’s a life I so desire – one of peace, freedom, and contentment!
Challenged! Thank you for challenging me! I would love for you to pray for me and with me to do just what you have written. I need to hold every thought I have had especially over the last few weeks but also over the last couple of years to the light. I need to see Gods words in my life not satans and not the worlds. 💕
Girl, I JUST saw this, but you’ve got me praying! God has led us on different journeys, but each needing to hold to the truths of what the Bible says and not what our brains tell us! I think of you so so often April, and am So thankful to call you friend. We can do this!!
