What Is Your Default?

The good ole trusty rusty internet defines the word “default” as…
Becoming the pre-selected or standard option that will be used automatically.
We can all think of default settings. Simply think of a computer. When you open it, it goes to a default screen, that you set up and organized, to ensure you can be as efficient as possible. Think about jumping in the shower. You probably use the same soap, wash your body in the same pattern, dry off in the same way, every single time.
But what about your mind? If you were given some “free” space in your mind, where would it go? What would it think about? What is its default setting? Time? Body? Money? Things to do? People to see? God?
We all have default settings. For me, I think about what food I have to make and buy, what area of our home needs cleaning, emails to catch up on, people to connect with, things to do with Mazy, and the list goes on.
But what if I made my default setting, more often than not, Christ? What if HE was the one I immediately thought about and sought, when I have a moment of default thinking? I’m not saying we can’t think about the things that are before us, like meals, chores, people, our kids, etc. But WHAT IF we thought about Christ FIRST and then through that thought, thought about those default settings?
If we thought about Christ and then what meals to make, maybe we’d think about a meal we should make for others or share with a friend.
If we thought about Christ and then our kids, maybe we would respond with more patience and grace?
If we thought about Christ and then our money, maybe we’d think about twice about buying something we don’t need?
If we thought about Christ and then Christ some more, we’d find ourselves in communion, in a space and place, with Him.
What if we taught our brains to think about Christ first, and let everything else flow from it? I know my life would be different and filled with more peace, contentment, and the fruits of the Spirit!
How about you?
