Our family enjoys their sweets.
We eat fairly simply in the sense that our meals typically only contain one course – the main course. For example, if we have spaghetti, we typically only have spaghetti. No salad or garlic bread. Though sometimes I get creative and motivated and add a little something extra. Honestly, having a child has made us eat more well-rounded, like adding fruit and vegetables when we can to our meals.
Then there is dessert.
We have sweet tooths and when it comes to homemade ice cream sandwiches, we have a hard time stopping at one a day. The thing is, they are one of the most simple desserts to make, even though they may look complicated. After seeing how easy homemade ice cream sandwiches are to make, you too, will end up with a sweet tooth, more than once a day!
Make homemade chocolate cookies. Here is my favorite recipe for chocolate chip cookies:
Chocolate Chip Cookies {Print Recipe}
Ingredients:
- 2 c. butter-flavored Crisco
- 2 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. white sugar
- 4 eggs
- 4 c. flour (heaping)
- 2 t. salt
- 2 t. baking soda
- 1 bag chocolate chips
Directions:
1. Mix Crisco, sugars, and eggs.
2. Add dry ingredients.
3. Add chocolate chips.
4. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
I recommend buying frozen yogurt because it is softer and easier to spread on the cookies. Also, allow the cookies to cool slightly, but are still a tad warm, so that the ice cream is easy to spread, but doesn’t melt. You could use any flavor of frozen yogurt!
Spread the frozen yogurt on the cookie, Use a spoon to wipe off excess frozen yogurt. Top the sandwich off with another cookie on top. Use wax paper to wrap up the homemade ice cream cookie and freeze.
